Kurt shifted his weight and leaned a hip against the counter. “Like I said, not my problem. That’s on you. If you can’t get her to train with you or if you two don’t meet her goals, you lose the bet. Deal?”

Adam rubbed his hand over the back of his neck. “Hold on a minute. You mentioned the vlog earlier. What does that have to do with this?”

“While you’re training her, get her to post some workout videos. It’ll be good advertising for us.”

Adam’s eyes widened. “Come on, man. She isn’t going to do that. I mean, it’s an antiquing vlog. You saw it. Besides, with as leery as she seems about exercising, I doubt she is going to want to go public with it.”

“She already did,” Kurt said, tapping his phone.

“By accident. She didn’t intentionally post anything that had to do with her working out or losing weight. We both know that.”

“Not really. She posted on her own accord from the gym. Maybe she planned to do that during all of her workouts. You never know. But either way, that’s not what we’re betting on. The extra publicity would be helpful, but this video going viral might be all the publicity we may get anyway.” He paused thoughtfully. “Still, as she gets fitter, I’m betting others notice and ask her about it. So we may actually see more publicity from it after all.”

“Okay, but just so we’re on the same page, the vlog isn’t included in the bet.”

“Nope.” Kurt peered at something over Adam’s shoulder and then frowned before focusing back on him. “But if I were you, I would encourage her to use it. She could post a couple of video updates on her workouts. It would benefit her just as much as it would benefit us.”

Adam gave him a yeah, right look. “How do you figure?”

“You know why. It’s called accountability, Adam. If viewers are following her fitness journey, she won’t be tempted to quit so easily. Trust me when I say that she’s going to need that motivation.”

Adam didn’t agree. After all, Preslee was already in the gym on her own, wasn’t she? And even after her ordeal with the stair-climber and the two guys laughing at her, she still hadn’t given up and gone home out of sheer embarrassment. She’d stayed and stuck it out. He liked that about her. It said a lot about her level of determination and willingness to see her fitness journey through to the end.

Hell, this will be a piece of cake.

Adam smiled and offered his hand to his friend. “All right. It’s a bet.”

Kurt shook his hand and then fist-bumped him. “Okay, but get ready to lose, sucker.”
