Sidney shrugged. “Actually, he does know. The first time I met Adam, I told Brett that I thought his friend was very handsome and that we needed to set him up with one of my girlfriends.”

“Really?” Valerie asked, blinking. “And Brett didn’t have a coronary?”

Sidney laughed. “No, he actually was the one who suggested that maybe Preslee would be a good fit for Adam. And I agree. They would make a perfect couple. She’s smart and kind and—”

“And sitting right here,” Preslee said, chiming in.

“Oh. Right. Sorry about that. I was on a roll.”

Preslee smiled at her. “Well, I hardly think I’m perfect for him. Nice of you to say though.”

Sidney tilted her head. “Why do you say that?”

“Oh, come on. As if I could get a guy like him. Men who look like that don’t look twice at someone like me.”

A frown marred Leah’s pretty face. “Don’t say that. You should be kinder to yourself. I should know. I spent my entire life listening to my mother spew negative comments.” Leah shook her head and gestured to the other women. “Besides, what you’re saying…it’s just not true. Look around you. You’re surrounded by four other plus-size women who all have really hot men.”

Three heads bobbed in unison as the other women agreed with her.

Preslee sighed. “Yeah, but it’s different with Adam. He’s a personal trainer. He literally spends his days getting others into shape.”

“So?”

“So why would he want me?”

Valerie blinked at her. “Why would he want you? Because you’re gorgeous. And you’re one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. You deserve to be with a great guy. One who makes you happy.”

“Thanks. But I don’t think he’s interested.”

Sidney sighed. “Have you asked him?”

Preslee shook her head. “God no. I don’t handle rejection well. The last thing I want to do is put myself out there and get turned down flat. I don’t want to embarrass myself.”

Jessa pursed her lips. “I understand that. I really do. But, honey, how will you know if he’s interested if you don’t give it a shot?”

“We’re just friends. He doesn’t want anything more.”

Valerie leaned toward her. “You don’t know that for sure. How could you?”

Preslee rubbed a hand over her face. “Look, it’s not hard to figure out. He’s shown no interest in me whatsoever. I don’t blame him though. He’s in shape, and I’m not even his type. I mean, look at me. I’m f—”

“Fucking beautiful?” A husky male voice slashed through the air unexpectedly.
