  39. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

“I love you, Lacey,” he groaned, his body diving into mine with grace and ease. “And soon the whole world will know what you do to me,” he promised, his eyes creasing as he looked at me in pleasure and awe. He reached up and cradled my face as tears trailed from my eyes. My breath came in tiny pants as he rubbed in and out.

“We might wreak some destruction with this endless desire,” he whispered with humor, thrusting inside me. He grew faster as he hunched over me, fucking my restrained body harder as his pleasure grew. He growled, his fangs flashing above me. His tail flicked behind him madly.

“I’m addicted to you Lacey,” he admitted with a ragged voice. “Are you addicted to me?” His fingers threaded in my hair as his mouth dragged across my cheek.

“Yes,” I said, my body crawling towards yet another orgasm because just having him inside me could cause it. Only he could do that, with the red haze of his power smokey around the room. A fever dream of lust at his beck and call. Sometimes I thought I might come just from his gaze dragging over my breasts and dipping between my legs.

“Soon, Lacey. So very soon now,” he groaned, pumping inside me, hot demonic liquid filling me up and making me burn with pleasure. I cried out, my body shivering as I came. His mouth fell to mine, covering up my noises for no one else to hear.

“I think he’s run away. He was never a very loyal dog to the Council,” Puca said as we walked down the casino’s hall towards one of the new places being built inside—a Belgian restaurant that specialized in fine dining.

“So what if he did?” Dullahan asked. “The Council will send someone else.” I was distracted from the conversation. I’d woken up feeling like I’d forgotten something and it wasn’t the first time.

“If Remington went rogue then they’d be chasing him and put us on the back burner,” Puca argued.

“I wonder why he agreed in the first place.” Dullahan rubbed at the scars on his face while thinking.

“To get off the list, of course,” Puca supplied. Dullahan shook his head.

“No, I think they have something on him. Remington was fine all on his own. There’s nothing that can kill him.”

“You could,” Puca said. Dullahan snorted.

“I’d need his real name.” What was it that I kept forgetting? It was irritating having this sensation, like something stuck in my eye that I couldn’t get out. It just stayed there bothering and bothering. Today, I was finding it hard to think of anything else.

“Maybe they took something that was his,” Puca said, leaning down to bring our faces eye to eye. He smiled widely at me.

“You think he’s capable of caring about someone? He’s a psychopath.”

“Aren’t we all?” Puca asked, winking at me before he straightened up. Dullahan sighed and dropped it.
