  39. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

“Don’t leave me in here with her,” I begged. Dullahan looked over at her but I didn’t dare even glance in her direction.

“You two will be just fine. I’ll let you out when you calm down,” he said. Lacey said nothing as he turned and left.

As soon as the door slammed behind Dullahan, I scrambled off the bed and flung myself at it, yanking the knob in growing frustration. No matter how much I wished and willed the door to open, it remained locked and closed.

“Shit!” I yelled before leaning against it and eyeing Lorcan. He was on his knees on the floor, chains were attached to both his wrists and his neck. It was really quite the sight. The sexiest man I’d ever seen was on his knees, chained up to the wall, and locked in a room with me.

His gray button-up was taut across his chest. His well-fitted pants hugged his thighs as he sat on the heels of his shoes. I might be locked in a room but somehow I still felt lucky simply from seeing Lorcan like this. I barely knew the man, but then, that was the thing. He wasn't really a man at all. He was a demon.

His red eyes glared at me as he sneered. There was something about haughty men that really turned me on, especially when they were chained up and on their knees. Or maybe it was just Lorcan.

The look of contempt on his face as his gaze trailed over my body made me excited and horny. Which was confusing and probably a sign I needed therapy. He saw the bite mark on my thighs, left by Viktor, and scoffed.

“You got a problem?” I asked, finally peeling my coat off. His red eyes watched as it fell to the ground.

“Pick it up,” he said quickly.

“Excuse me?” I asked.

“Pick up your coat,” he said, red eyes boring into me. His jaw flexed and I noticed how tense he was. Every muscle was strained under those well-ironed clothes. I stood there a moment, trying to figure him out.

“So the council wants you dead,” I said, ignoring the coat. Lorcan ground his jaw and glared at me. His eyes kept flicking to the offending object I left on the floor. I liked seeing him irritated. It gave me a sense of power in this fucked up situation.

“Do they always kill demons?” I asked. He scoffed and rolled his eyes. His refusal to answer made me sigh. This was going to be boring if he kept this up.

“Just pick it up,” he said. Then he blew out a breath. “Please,” he added through his teeth. One of my eyebrows raised.

"Well, aren't you well-trained," I joked. A man saying please from his knees? Well, maybe I could consider obliging. Maybe. I looked down at the lump of fuzzy fabric on the floor.
