- Don't miss out!
I was covered in blood. My hands were dripping as I stood there in shock. A police officer named Brent covered me with a blanket.
“Do you know who did this?” he asked.
I was shaking uncontrollably and my lip was quivering. “Giana told me it was Sylvia, Donovan’s wife.”
“Do you know their last name?” he asked.
“Holms. Sylvia Holms.”
Brent walked away and got on his radio. I could hear the chaos throughout the apartment.
“Gabrielle,” Simon shouted as he entered the apartment. I looked at him with a blank stare as he bent down and grabbed my bloodstained hands. “Baby, oh my God.” He pulled me into an embrace and held my head against his chest. “Jesus Christ, who did this?”
“Sylvia,” I said in a daze.
“Donovan’s wife?”
“That’s what G said.”
Before I knew it, Brent, the officer, was standing in front of me. “Miss, I’m sorry, but I have to ask you a few more questions.”
I lifted my head and nodded.
“Officer, you can clearly see she’s in shock. Can it wait?”
“No. I’m sorry, but it’s still fresh in her mind. We need as much information now. Can you tell me where you were during the attack?”
With a quivering lip, I answered him. “I was out picking up our dinner from the Chinese restaurant. I was only gone for forty minutes or so, and I found them when I came back.”
“Okay. Well, we have to seal this apartment off as a crime scene. Do you have somewhere else you can stay?”
“She’ll stay with me. I’m her boyfriend.”
“Okay. Then I’ll need your phone number and address so we can get in contact with her if we have additional questions.”
I looked over as I heard the wheels of the stretchers across the floor. I jumped up and ran over to G.
“Is she alive?” I cried.
“Yes, ma’am, but she’s very critical. We need to get her to the hospital quick.”
“And him?”
“He’s barely holding on. I’m sorry.”
Simon grabbed me as I fell to the ground. “Can she at least get cleaned up?” he asked the officer.
“Not here. I’m sorry, but we can’t have anything disturbed.”
Simon grabbed my purse and my phone and carried me out of the apartment.
“I have to go to the hospital. I can’t leave her.”
“Shh...baby. I’m taking you back to my place first to get cleaned up and then I’ll take you over to the hospital.”
