- Don't miss out!
I grabbed the folder and plans from my desk and took the elevator up to Simon’s office.
“Knock, knock.” I smiled as I lightly opened the door. “Do you have a few minutes?”
“For you, I have eternity.” He smiled.
I entered his office and took a seat across from his desk. As we sat there and discussed the renovations, his door opened. The look of disdain on his face forced me to turn around, only to see Alyssa walking in.
“What is she doing here?” she asked with hatred in her voice.
“She’s my employee and we’re in a meeting. You don’t just walk into my office unannounced.”
“Your secretary wasn’t at her desk. I came to show you something, since you never bothered to show up for the ultrasound.”
“I told you that I was in meetings all day.”
She pulled a small piece of paper out of her purse. “It’s a boy. You’re going to have a son, darling.” She smiled as she walked over and kissed his cheek.
“I’ll give you two happy parents a moment,” I spoke as I began to get up from my seat.
“No. Stay. We have to finish this meeting. Alyssa, we’ll talk later.”
“Do you know what this means, Simon? You’re going to have a son to carry on the Young legacy. Aren’t you the least bit excited?”
“Congratulations.” I smiled.
“Thank you. We are so happy. Aren’t we, baby?” she said as she placed her hands firmly on his shoulders.
I thought Simon was going to lose it as anger consumed his eyes.
“If you’ll excuse me for a moment, I forgot something in my office.” I needed to get out of there. I went to the bathroom and into the stall. A few moments later, I heard the bathroom door open and the clicking of heels on the tile floor. Suddenly, I heard Alyssa’s voice.
“Hello, this is Hilary Stout. You had left a message earlier letting me know that Dr. Jennings had a cancellation this afternoon? Yes, I have the ultrasound report with me. Thank you. I’ll see you four o’clock.”
She stepped into the stall next to me and I quickly flushed the toilet and left the bathroom before she could see me. Why the hell did she give a different name? What was she up to? I ran down the four flights of stairs back to my office and did a google search for Dr. Jennings. He was an OB/GYN.
“Ahem,” I heard from the doorway. “You never came back to my office. What’s going on?” he asked as he stepped inside.
I got up from my desk and grabbed his arm, pulling him inside my office and shutting the door.
“Get in here.”
“Baby, remember, we’re keeping it on the down low at the office.”
