- Don't miss out!
“Also, all the guests have to wear white. How many people were you thinking?”
“Seventy people.”
She nodded her head. “Okay, that’s a decent size. I can work with that number on such short notice.”
I picked up my cosmo and took a sip just as Simon walked in. “Well, hello you two. Party planning, I see.”
“Hello, Simon darling.”
“She wants swans.” I smiled.
Simon looked at me and narrowed his eyes. “Swans, eh? In my pool?”
“Oh, shush, Simon. It’ll be amazing. Now follow me around the yard and I’ll show what I’m planning.”
We followed Sabrina around the yard as she waved her hands around and pointed to where the tents would be placed.
“Did you get my text message?” I asked Simon.
“I did and it’s not up for discussion, Gabrielle. I told you I was taking care of this.”
“No, you didn’t. You said I could use your house.”
“That’s right, and when events are held at my house, I pay for them. So, if we’re done here, I’m going to go upstairs and change.” He walked away with a smile on his face.
Sabrina walked over to me with a pointed finger. “Nobody tells Simon no.” She smiled.
I sighed and sat back at the table as we picked out the invitations. “That should be it for now. The invitations will be ready in a couple of days, so get me the guest list and the addresses, and I’ll take care of the mailing. Don’t worry, Gabrielle; I will take care of the rest. All you need to do is show up in a fabulous white dress.” She finished her cosmo, kissed me on the cheek, and left.
I couldn’t help but wonder if Simon had slept with her. Just the way she talked about him led me to believe he did, and I was very uncomfortable with it. As I sat at the table, Simon walked back to the patio and sat down across from me.
“Did you fuck her?” The words fells out of my mouth without warning.
“Why would you ask me that?”
“Why not? Just the way she talked about you led me to believe you did.”
“I can assure you I never have. It would be pretty hard, since she’s not into men.”
“Oh.” I felt like an ass.
“Would you like another drink?”
“No. I need to get going. I have to pack.”
“Pack? Are you going somewhere?”
“Me, G, and a friend of hers from the law firm are having a girls’ weekend getaway.”
“Sounds nice. Where are you going?”
“Somewhere.” I smiled.
“Ah, so it’s a secret.”
“Yeah. Donovan doesn’t even know. It’s just for us girls to get away to be pampered and relax.”
“Sounds great. I hope you have a good time, Gabrielle.”
“Thanks, Simon. I’ll talk to you when I get back.”
