- About the Author
“Exactly what I said. Not a single man has touched my lips since you.”
How is that possible? “Not even Dante?”
Her smile turns sad. “Not even Dante. He knew about you and he knew I had a rule in place. No kissing. He never tried to pressure me into changing the rule, he just hoped one day I’d eradicate it.”
“You had a rule about no kissing? Why?”
“Because. It’s so personal. And I only ever wanted to get personal with you.”
I reach behind her to grab the bottle of champagne. It pops open with little fuss, thank God, because my dick is already trying to fight its way out of my pants. “Open your mouth, love.”
“What are you doing?”
“Proposing a toast.”
“To losing?”
“Nope, to getting personal.” With that, she leans her head back and opens her mouth wide. I stroke the column of her throat tenderly, marveling in her beauty.
Then, I pour a shot’s worth of champagne in her mouth and seal her lips shut with mine. My tongue delves deep into her mouth while she swallows down the liquid and laps my tongue with hers. This is the kind of messy kiss that has our teeth clinking together and neither one of us gives a shit. This is ours.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Olivia
Euphoric. That’s how I would describe this feeling.
Even though I heavily protested at the beginning, I was never uncomfortable with Kai staying with me. But now that everything’s out in the open? It’s like this giant weight has been lifted from my shoulders. It’s been three days since my impromptu confessions game, and I’m almost afraid that this state of bliss we’ve been in since is too good to be true, but I shut that frame of thinking down immediately. I promised Kai I would do better with facing my fears, so I’m going to stand in the light with him for as long as he’ll have me.
I’m pulled away from my thoughts by Kai’s heavy hands wrapping around my middle and pulling me into him. I lean back so that my head rests against his chest and he kisses my temple.
“You’ve been washing that glass for five minutes. You good?”
I look down at the sink. The glass I was washing is already clean and the water is just overflowing out of the glass and over my hands. Damn.
“I’m good. Just got lost in thought,” I say, turning the water off and placing the glass in the dish drainer.
“Oh yeah? About what?”
His teasing tone prompts a playful eye roll from me. “Morris Chestnut,” I lie.
I turn in his arms so he can see my face and his smile drops. “Morris Chestnut?”
“Yeah, I just discovered he has a TikTok and he looks damn good. The things I would let that man do to me.”
