- About the Author
“Keep playing, Olivia. Think I won’t strip you down in front of my entire staff and show them what a good girl you are for me?”
The subtle clench of her thighs tells me that it’s time to get her out of here and back home.
Olivia has been acting strange for the last few days. She claims that she needs to fly back to North Carolina to meet with her coach, which makes sense, but she was adamant that I not go with her. I don’t mind her going alone, of course, it’s just that she’s acting cagey about the whole thing which has me on edge. Is Jason doing something I need to know about?
I find her in the bathroom packing up her skin care products into a toiletry bag. “So, we should probably talk about what we’re gonna do once you move back to North Carolina.”
Distractedly, she misses her target and drops a bottle of face cleanser on the floor. “Huh?”
My eyebrows furrow in concern. “Is everything okay?”
“Oh, yeah. Just nervous about my flight. You know I’m a boujee bitch, used to flying private.”
“We flew commercial home from New York.”
“And it was terrible.” She giggles, but it doesn’t reach her eyes and I’m not buying it.
“Mm-hmm, so back to my question then.” I repeat the question and notice that she meets my eyes in the mirror but doesn’t turn to look at me.
“I don’t know. I’m not worried about it though. We’ll figure it out.”
I cross my arms in front of my chest. “I could always move.”
“No!” She schools her initial look of terror. “I mean, that’s not necessary. Look, let’s talk about all of this when I get back, okay?”
I silently agree but my mind is reeling. I don’t know what’s gotten into her, but if she thinks I’m letting her go without a fight this time, she hasn’t been paying attention for the last six months.
Chapter Twenty-Nine
Olivia
“I’ve gotta say, Liv. This is the fastest deal I’ve ever gotten squared away. Houston was very eager,” my agent, Belinda, claims as she tucks my freshly signed papers away.
“They’re lucky to have you,” Ivy Haven, my head coach in North Carolina, agrees. Coach Haven and I have been close from the moment I joined the team, so I knew when I called her with my decision she would support me rather than tear me down.
“Thanks, Coach. You know y’all will always have my heart though.”
“Mm-hmm, we’ll see about that when we’re on that field.”
“Oh no, on the field I’m dusting everyone’s ass but after that though.”
