A loden coat that was washed up by the River Traun near Steirermühl has again not succeeded in clearing up the mystery of an accident that occurred two and a half years ago. The loden coat has been indisputably identified as the loden coat belonging to Irrsiegler, the cement worker. To this day Irrsiegler has been desperately sought by his family because he is the only person who knows where, at the end of the war in 1945, his father buried the fortune in gold coins on which the family had pinned its hopes but which Irrsiegler had not intended to dig up until New Year’s Day 1974 because his father had extracted a promise from him not to dig up the treasure, the actual origin of which is unknown, until New Year’s Day 1974. Irrsiegler was found dead immediately below the place where his loden coat was washed up. He must have been in the water for several weeks. Where he had spent the rest of the time, a period of almost two and a half years, is unknown. At the time of his disappearance Irrsiegler had gone to the Gasthaus Anschütz to get a beer and had not returned.

Papermakers

PAPERMAKERS

The papermaker Filzmoser shot his neighbor Nöstlinger, who, like him, was employed in the paper mill in Steirermühl, by mistake, as he stated in court. He had shot at a pheasant that suddenly flew up out of the undergrowth in the so-called Peiskamer Forest, but instead of hitting the pheasant he had hit Nöstlinger, with whom he had regularly gone hunting for twenty-five years. Nöstlinger died immediately. He stated that he, Filzmoser, and Nöstlinger had been lifelong friends. Witnesses testified in court that the two men had not spoken to each other since the moment when Nöstlinger had obtained a loan to build an extension to his house and had been able to start building the extension at once. The reason was that Filzmoser had been denied a similar loan by the same place in Linz. It is well known that in the area of the River Traun a lot of men obtain a hunting permit solely for the purpose of committing murder.
