“Yep. I’m going to bring in a dietitian one day a week and set up appointments for each of my clients. I don’t want any of you starving yourselves. That isn’t going to make your body stronger or help you during workouts. Your body needs fuel. It’s about choosing the right foods in order to get the correct levels of nourishment so that we can boost your metabolism and provide you with a good energy source.”

Preslee smiled. “I’ll commit to that. I think seeing a nutritionist would be a good idea for me. I recognize that it’s something I need. Besides, I’m on board with any diet that allows me to eat more.”

“It’s not a diet. It’s a lifestyle change. As long as what’s on your plate is healthy, I want you to fill up. Speaking of which, dinner is ready. Are you hungry?”

“I assumed the other plate was for your brother.” She glanced into the living room. “Where’s Michael? Apparently I was so tired that I fell asleep while he was talking. I’d like to thank him.”

“You missed him. He headed out after you dozed off. But I’m sure you’ll get your chance to properly thank him. He’s moving to Granite next week. He’s going to work with Dr. Fowler for a few months to get acclimated, and then he’s going to take over the practice so the old doc can retire.”

“Really? I knew Dr. Fowler wanted to retire, but I never thought the grumpy man actually would. He’s been my doctor so long that I assumed he would die with a stethoscope in his hand.”

“Well, apparently he has other plans.”

“Good for him. I’m glad to hear that. He’s a bit of a crab sometimes, but he deserves to live out the rest of his years in peace.” She smiled up at Adam. “And, of course, that’s great news for your brother. Is it possible that you two will get over your issues?”

“Already have. We worked them out before he left.”

“That’s great, Adam. I’m happy to hear it. And I’ll be sure to congratulate Michael on his new job the next time I see him. I’m sure everyone here will love the new doctor in town. Especially the single women,” she added with a saucy wink.

Adam chuckled. “He does have a way with the ladies. Although I’m not sure he’s ever been in a relationship that has lasted longer than a few hours.”

Preslee gave a nonjudgmental shrug. “Well, I’m sure there are some women in this town who aren’t looking for anything permanent. They’d probably be happy to welcome a hot new doctor to town with open arms.”

His brows furrowed. “You think my brother’s hot?”
