“Sure thing,” I said with a smile before walking over to him. His throat bobbed as he watched me walk close to him. He bent his neck to look up at me from the floor, his eyes narrowed in suspicion.
Lorcan was hard, something very obvious. The beast he had in his pants was impossible to miss even when he wasn’t aroused. Right now it taunted me, a hard imprint that showed off a staggering size. His eyes bored into mine then slowly slipped away, trailing over my body like he couldn’t help but feast his eyes on me.
“You didn’t pick up the coat,” his smooth voice said. My skin felt warm where his eyes looked.
“Tell me why the council wants you dead and I’ll pick it up,” I said.
“You should back up, Lacey. It’s dangerous,” he warned. Lorcan’s nostrils flared as he breathed me in. The chains attached to his wrists rattled as he suddenly reached out to snatch me. I widened my eyes but didn’t back up. I was just out of reach.
I’d never had a man look so…furiously needy for me. This incubus really did want me. He wanted me badly. Such a shame things were so complicated. Or not, actually. Who was I to throw away a good fuck just because there were blurry lines?
Stay focused, I chided myself. This wasn’t the time for fucking but Lorcan made it so hard to think of anything else. My eyes couldn’t stay settled on his face, instead, they kept getting pulled to other places. His hard chest, his straining arms fighting the chains, and his muscled thighs flinching like he was about to leap up and grab me. He had such devious features—plump lips he licked with his forked tongue, taunting me, teasing me.
Focus, Lacey.
“I’ll give you some space and pick up the coat if you answer my question,” I said. My bargaining chips were cheap but I’d use whatever I could to get some small amount of information.
“The council’s policy on demons is to keep a close eye and wait for an excuse to give us a hard time.” He lifted to his knees and leaned towards me. He wasn’t being subtle anymore about looking at me. His eyes went half-lidded with lust as he traced the shape of my body. His tongue flicked out over his lips again as he stared at my breasts. I remembered the wet, warm feel of him kissing them, his tongue lapping at my nipple as his fingers coaxed pleasure between my thighs.
“What? Then they kill you?” I asked, my voice breathy.
“No, then they lock you up. You really should back up,” he said, but it didn’t sound like he wanted me to. I felt dizzy, my nipples hard and tingling. I took his advice and took a few steps back. He watched me go, eyes steadily watching me like a predator.
“They don’t want to lock you up though,” I said.
