“No, not me” he agreed, a smile starting to inch up his face. Dark tattoos began to crawl up his neck. I watched as his sclera grew dark and light again, like a faulty light flickering.
“So why do they want you dead?” I asked.
“Because I’m a bomb just waiting to go off,” he growled, his lips tensing in a sneer.
“Hmm,” I said, walking over to the coat. I bent down slowly at the waist, letting my dress ride up in the back for him to get a good glimpse of the g-string panties that parted my otherwise bare ass cheeks.
“Lacey,” he grumbled in warning at the display of ass I was giving him. I couldn’t help taunting an incubus. Spice and sweetness coated my tongue and I chuckled. I recognized the flavor of his magic now.
I stood back up, leaving the coat on the floor before flopping on the bed. Lorcan didn’t seem to care about the coat anymore anyway. He couldn't take his eyes off me.
“You’re dangerous, right Lorcan?” I asked with a smile. I gripped the blanket, keeping a calm face as my heart beat fast in my chest. He nodded slowly, his eyes buried between my crossed thighs as if he could see the wetness between them.
“I like danger. Remember?” I asked. A smile slowly widened on his face. It took my breath away. He was very attractive but when he smiled it was unbearable. His eyes flicked up to me and the whites began to fill with black, like a glass being topped up with dark poison.
“One day,” he said, voice a little raspier and deeper than before. “I’ll lose control and no one will be safe from the immense hunger I’ve been forced to live with. I’ll finally eat until I’m full.” He watched me, waiting for my reaction.
I bit my lip and felt my breathing pick up. God, I couldn’t even imagine what a full-blown demon would be like with no control.
Lorcan seemed pleased by my response, almost giddy by it. He was smiling now, his shoulders straightening. My response seemed to fill him with a sort of pride. I think he was actually preening by my excitement.
“Tell me more,” I said and he looked positively giddy.
“It’s cracking already. The control,” he said and I watched as horns peeked out from his red hair, growing quickly. “Little fissures that are being forced open. You did this,” he said with a light voice. No blame, just fact. I blinked.
“Me? I don’t even know you,” I said. He ground his jaw and looked away a moment, as if my words bothered him for some reason. Finally, he took a breath and recomposed himself. Odd.
“I’ve been watching you, Lacey,” he said, smiling deviously at me.
“Of course,” I sighed. “You and Viktor—”
“Don’t lump me with him,” he said with distaste.
“Sure, you’re the good stalker. I get it,” I teased and he huffed.
