“How do you know all this?” I asked.
“I know more about the underbelly of this island than anybody,” he said. His hand drifted to his stomach, gripping the small indents my tiger teeth had left in his body.
“We can’t find Remington,” I admitted.
“He’s getting on a boat tomorrow night. We’re sending all of them out to sea in hopes they might survive out there. The werewolves are letting him hop aboard,” he said curtly, straightening his shoulders.
“And you’re telling me all of this because you want Lacey to get her luck back from him?” I asked.
“Yes, that is the most important thing. However, if you happen to destroy the ship he’s meant to be on, that would be an added bonus,” he said with a vicious smile. I laughed.
Something came over me. My face felt hot and my heart hammered in my chest. I had to intense urge to fuck, plain and simple.
I needed to get back to the Tower, get to the rest of them.
“Shit,” Tu Shen hissed.
“What?” I asked, my voice raspy.
“An Incubus. A strong one. Your demon lover, I presume. He’s,” he stopped talking a moment, pressing a hand to his forehead. “He’s strong. Go, now. Get back to your lovers. We’re lucky this lust doesn’t appear to make us completely lose our minds.”
“Lorcan is doing this? We’re halfway across the island,” I said in disbelief.
“Yes and he’s right in the middle of Neo Atlantis, right? At your Tower? That means the entire island is being affected,” he looked towards the door again, a far-off look on his face. “I can sense it. It’s driving everyone into some sort of primal heat.”
Well, I guess Lorcan had finally cracked. I smiled.
“Go,” Tu Shen said. “This won’t stop until he can be satisfied.” The sound of a motorcycle growled outside. Shen and I looked at one another. He clearly wasn’t expecting someone. He reached down and snatched back up his gun, pulling it behind his back as I slipped into an open doorway, hiding in the dark room from the unexpected guest.
The tall doors to the building banged open and the howl of the storm was loud, filling the space with the hiss of rain bombarding the tiles. I peered from the darkness, seeing Roman Fenrir drenched—a wet dog dripping water at the entrance.
“Roman,” Tu Shen said with surprise. “What are you doing here?” The Rabbit God and the werewolves didn’t get along at all. This could be an assassination attempt.
“I fucking hate you,” Roman growled out, stepping into the building without closing the doors. I saw trees bending in half from the wind outside as the werewolf marched into the grand hall. Tu Shen clutched his gun tighter, holding it at his side.
The taste of something spicy and sweet was in the air and I felt half drunk with need. I ached but held off leaving until I knew what was going on. If the werewolves were helping Remington and Tu Shen was helping us, then I might need to step in. Enemy of my enemy and all that.
