- ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Luckily, I’ve never been good.
I called for chow time—only to realize there was a big ol’ IG-RM thug droid outside my cell. And it was about to shoot at me! Apparently it did not speak the same mechanical language I did.
But then…something shot at the droid instead.
Hmph. I thought this prison was supposed to have amazing security!
Before I could ruminate on that too much, Princess Annoying showed up outside my cell…
PRINCESS LEIA:
Aphra—
APHRA:
Princess, if you’re gonna kill me, at least have the guts to do it yourself instead of sending a droid to do your dirty work. That sounds like something I would do. Not you, your lawfulness.
PRINCESS LEIA:
If we wanted you dead, Aphra, we wouldn’t be here.
SANA STARROS:
For the record, I’m perfectly fine with you being dead.
PRINCESS LEIA:
Stand back.
Leia fires at the cell door lock, freeing Aphra.
APHRA:
Yesssss, freedom!
SANA STARROS:
I still say this is a really bad idea. And I’ve been right the last five times I told you that.
PRINCESS LEIA:
We don’t have any choice, Sana. Believe it or not, Doctor, we need your help. We’re here to save you.
APHRA:
Save me? Save me from…?
SANA STARROS:
This facility has been sieged by a murderous madman.
APHRA:
Excuse me, what?
SANA STARROS:
We don’t know who he is or what he wants.
PRINCESS LEIA:
The way I see it, we either all work together or we all die. What do you say, Doctor? Feel like taking over a prison?
APHRA:
Heh. You’re kidding, right? I was gonna do that anyway.
APHRA (narration):
Well, whaddya know. Sometimes doors come from the most unexpected places.
SCENE 44
INT. ADJACENT CELL BLOCK. SUNSPOT PRISON. LATER.
APHRA (narration):
While the princess skulked around trying to find a door for all of us, Sana and I booked it to the next cell block over—apparently there was some control panel doohickey over there that Sana was able to use to tap into the prison’s comm line. Personally, I think she should have asked me to do it since I was always better at that kind of thing, but whatever! I was just happy to be free and in possession of my very own blaster rifle!
I’ll admit I got kinda sorta distracted by yet another massive IG-RM
droid stomping its way up to us—unfortunately, I was so fixated on its powerful gait, on its shiny armor, on all the things I could potentially do with such an amazing droid…that before I knew what was happening, it had its strong, grippy hands wrapped around Sana’s neck.
I jumped into action immediately, popping open its back control panel to rewire it…
The IG-RM droid strangles Sana while Aphra frantically tries to rewire it.
SANA STARROS:
Gaagh. Aphra! What are you doing? Get it off!
APHRA:
