  43. About the Author

We don’t have a therapy appointment today so I’ll leave her alone for a little longer, but her time is running out. I have a few errands to run and then she’ll have to face me. As I’m pulling out the clothes I’ll be wearing today, my phone starts blowing up. I look at it and roll my eyes when I see it’s the guys.

Linc: Ding dong

Linc: You hear that boys?

Isaiah: Nah, what’s that bro?

Linc: It’s the sound of Kai’s timer running out

Linc: Time to tell us why you’re shacking up with your client, Kai. And why you’ve been so quiet since she showed up

Isaiah: *inserts gif of Michael Jackson eating popcorn in the Thriller video*

I shake my head reading their texts. Last year, when Isaiah was going through all his bullshit with his now wife, Nina, I told him how I had been in love and almost had a baby once. I’m not sure if he’s figured out that Olivia is the woman I was talking about, but I’m sure he suspects by now. I’m going to have to tell the guys everything about her eventually, but I don’t know if now is the time. I’m enjoying being on my own little island with her.

Shane: I mean, have you seen her?

Shane: I’d neglect you assholes for her too. She’s even more fine in person

Like I said, I love these guys. I would die for any of them. But I will fuck Shane up. And when I’m done fucking him up, I will rip his arms from his body and bitch-slap him with them if he doesn’t stop talking about Olivia like this.

Me: Shane, don’t make me kill you

Dom: Is this the part where we act like we don’t think he’s fucking his client?

Linc: Yep and this is the part where Kai denies it

Linc sent his text at the exact same time that I sent mine.

Me: I’m not fucking my client

His reply comes immediately.

Linc: Told you

I chuckle as I throw my shirt over my head. Fuck these guys.

Shane: Wait, so should I be shooting my shot or no?

Me: Stay away from her

Isaiah: Your honor, I’d like to submit Kai’s sus-ass texts as Exhibit A

Isaiah: *inserts gif of Will and Carlton from The Fresh Prince slamming briefcases on a courtroom table and sitting down*

Isaiah: He’s definitely fucking his client

Shane: Gonna need a clear yes or no here. She’s fine as hell

Me: Linc, will Ciara give me tips on how to get rid of a body?

Linc: She says for legal reasons she has no idea what you’re talking about

Isaiah: Exhibit B, your honor

Me: Who tf is even the judge?
