  43. About the Author

“And proud of it. How you think I ended up pregnant in the first place? Sorry, your brothers have addicting dicks that continue to knock us up,” she says with a shrug.

“Now, see. That was unnecessary.”

Ciara chuckles as she shuffles out the door without a look back at us. Nina drives home the fact that Ciara wasn’t lying about the Cole brothers’ addicting dicks, and Sasha flips her off, making my laughter impossible to contain.

They head to the bathroom and I let them know I’ll wait for them outside. I make my way out not too far behind Ciara, and as if she senses my presence, she turns and runs back over to me. “Hey, Liv. Sorry, I wanted to give this to you earlier, but I didn’t want to make a big show of it.”

She passes me a card and when I look down at it, I see it’s for a therapist. My eyebrows peak in confusion so she quickly explains. “You’ve been through a lot. I know what it’s like to bottle that shit in. My best unsolicited advice? Don’t. That’s my therapist, but if you don’t wanna go to her she has plenty of recommendations. No pressure, just…extending a hand.”

“Thank you, Ci. I appreciate it.”

“No problem, boo. You’re family now. Now, off to my dick appointment with my husband. Byeeee.”

I twirl the card around in my hand, studying the elegant lettering. I saw a psychologist when my ACL tear happened, but that was mostly concentrated on determining whether I had a fear of reinjury, which could lead to that very thing happening. I don’t have a fear of reinjury, but I do have a fear of laying my demons out in front of a stranger. I bit Kai’s head off when I thought he was hinting at therapy for me, but I honestly don’t know why. Actually, I do. Just another case of letting Jason Harding’s way of life influence mine. Maybe if he had gotten therapy for all the shit he went through he could’ve stopped the trauma with his generation, instead of letting it bleed into mine.

“Go on a date with me,” Kai whispers in my ear, making my stomach flutter.

I’m lying on my stomach but I still shy away from him, a smile firmly planted on my face. I look around to the other PTs working in the open area where we’re working on strength training to make sure no one is watching us. “Kai, aren’t we supposed to just be therapist and client when we’re in your building?”
