- About the Author
She draws her head back and drops her hand on her hip. “I folded?”
“Yeah, you folded on me. On us. You didn’t believe I could protect you. You didn’t give me a chance. You chose fear over me. Admit that shit so we can move forward. I’ll take my apology in the form of your pussy.”
“This is not a damn joke.”
“Who’s joking?”
“Fuck you, Kai,” she says, seething. “I made the right choice.”
She turns around and starts heading for the door, and that’s when my blood boils. “Don’t you fucking walk away from me.” My voice is low with a sharp undertone, threatening to shatter the ground beneath our feet and plummet us into darkness.
She freezes for a moment but then she spins around, ready to cuss me out, but I move around the bed and back her against the wall in mere seconds. “That’s your fucking problem—you’re always walking away. That shit is over.”
“Kai…”
I gently grip her chin, silencing her words. “No. I don’t wanna look at your back again unless I’m bending you over something to drive my dick inside you, where it belongs.”
She squirms beneath my hold. “You’re mad at me but you’re still thinking about fucking me.” Her eyes roll with her question-but-not-really-a-question.
“What’d I tell you about shit not being mutually exclusive? Yeah, I’m mad at you, but I’m always thinking about fucking you.”
Her hands push against my lower abdomen. “Be serious.”
“I don’t look serious to you?” I move my head lower so she has no choice but to look in the depths of my eyes. “I’ve always been serious when it comes to you, Olivia. You’re the one that’s questionable.”
The slight playfulness falls away from her face, and I can see she needs some space, so I take a step back. Not too far though.
“I have always loved you, Kai. I am genuinely so sorry for what I did. I really was trying to protect you. I couldn’t stand the idea of my father being this dark cloud that hung over you your whole life and mine. And now that I say that out loud, I realize that I was trying to protect myself too.”
“So you…what?”
Uncertainty spreads over her face before she catches my smirk and mutters something about me being an asshole then says, “I folded.”
