Anyway, the other big news is... I HAVE MET A BOY! An actual boy who I fancy. The only problem is that everyone else in our halls seems to be in love with him too. His name is Danny and he lives upstairs and he is GORGEOUS. Like he has the nicest floppy hair, and really good skin. He’s on my course, so we met the first night, and agreed to walk into our first lecture together. Then, when I turned my head, he was kissing someone, and that’s basically Danny all over. He can’t really go anywhere or do anything without someone kissing him. But he sees me as more than that, I can tell. We have such amazing deep talks when we walk into lectures. Like all about the Iraq War, and Shakespeare, and the poetry he writes. We study in his bedroom together, on his bed, and it’s so intense, our feet brushing together and stuff. We end up talking ’til really late about all these deep things. I’m just going to enjoy being his friend and see what happens, but I do really like him. It’s so nice to like someone after so long. OMG, I have to go! We are all going to the fancy dress shop for this night out tomorrow. The theme is “Bad Taste”—how funny is that? I’m going to go as a Hell’s Angel. Danny was going to go as a rape victim but Heather had a MASSIVE go at him. That’s the weird thing about being her friend—you realize SO MANY things aren’t funny!

So, yeah, having the time of my life, Jessica! It’s great. Sorry I’ve been so busy. I miss you of course. Let me know your news. When do you start your job?

Oh my GOD—they’re playing the Spice Girls and having a corridor impromptu disco, I have to dash.

...it sounds like you’re having a great time. That’s brilliant, Fern. I’m so happy you’re settling in now. I mean, of course you were going to make friends and everyone will love you! You always make friends wherever you go. Heather sounds like someone we all need in our lives. And Danny sounds very good-looking, but also a bit like trouble. Be careful there!
