“You know I’ve been with half my high school,” I say, tossing my hair flirtatiously. I figure flip and sarcastic will get me out of answering any questions that pertain to anything sexual and/or something my parents really should not be hearing. It’s not, like, I’m embarrassed to answer the question or anything. I mean, I can be mature about sex. I just don’t really think it’s anyone’s business.
“It’s me,” Simone says. “I’m probably the only virgin in the house.” She looks almost apologetic.
“There’s nothing wrong with that,” Drew says to her. “I think it’s cool that you’re waiting.”
“I’m not waiting for marriage or anything like that,” she says, pulling the hair tie out of her long red hair and gathering it back up into a ponytail. “I’m just waiting until I find someone I really like, that I’m comfortable with.”
“Good idea,” Drew says. “I wish I would have waited until I found the right girl.” Yeah, right. I wonder how many girls he’s been with, and put his total at close to five. I think it probably would have been more, except he seems like the type to be super picky about who he goes out with, limiting himself to the hottest girls in school.
“What is this noise, man?” James says. “I gotta get mine wherever I need to get it, you know what I’m sayin’?”
I catch Jasmine rolling her eyes, and I bite my lip to keep from laughing. When I got to the house about an hour ago, James took one look at me and said, “Damn, girl, your parents put out some good product.” I think it was a compliment, but I’m not quite sure. It’s hard to decipher James’s ghetto-speak when there’s a camera in your face. I have to use all my concentration to suck in my stomach and keep the right look on my face.
“So whaddup wit you, Jazzy?” James asks, turning his attention to Jasmine. “Are you a virgin?” The look on his face says Yeah, right.
“First of all, don’t call me Jazzy. If you do, expect to be ignored, or for me to start calling you Jimmy. Second, I think if you refrained from asking girls inappropriate questions within an hour of meeting them, you’d ‘get yours wherever you need to get it’ a lot more than you currently do.”
James looks startled.
“That’s coo, girl,” he says after a moment, starting to chuckle. “Homegirl’s got attitude.”
“So do any of y’all have boyfriends or girlfriends?” Simone asks softly.
“Nope,” Drew says, running his hands through his hair again.
“No boyfriend,” Jasmine says. Her boobs bob up and down in the water.
“Puhhleeze,” James says, giving Simone an Are you kidding me look.
“I’m single too,” Simone says, looking at James.
