  65. About the Author

My mom walks to my father's side, and I sit down in front of my father in one of the chairs. Emma sits down on the couch on the right of the office and then Alexander sits down next to me.

I look down at his hands. "You should clean that. It will get infected."

"No shit, Sherlock," Alexander mutters but he just looks at my father who is looking through papers.

"Thalia, want to explain to me why Jane ran into my office telling me that you were about to die?" my dad says as he looks up at me.

"You're asking as if it's my fault," I say, sounding offended. "I don't even know what happened. I was talking to Alexander and then we both heard gunshots. Alexander and I killed all of the gunmen except one.”

"What did these men look like?" my dad asks, looking between Alexander and me.

"They are Russian," Alexander states bluntly. "I interrogated one of the guys that Thalia knocked out. He is in the cell, still alive, but he is kind of weak and a little roughed up."

"What did he say?" My father asks, leaning over his desk staring at Alexander.

"Know a guy named Vladimir?"

"Last name?"

"Uh, Ivanov."

I see my father's jaw clench and my mother look at him with a shocked expression on her face.

My mother then looks at Alexander. "Are you sure his last name is Ivanov?"

"Yea that is what the guy said. I also undressed him and found a tattoo. It was similar to the Russian tattoo from twenty years ago, but it is different in some aspects," Alexander pulls out his phone and shows my dad a picture of what I am guessing is the Russian tattoo.

"Shit," my father mutters. He looks up at my mother. "That's not possible, is it?"

"Ace, you said that Dimitri didn't have any children," my mother claims.

I furrow my eyebrows.

Dimitri Ivanov was the Russian Mafia Leader, but my father killed him and his entire family. My mother told me the story. My mother said that he was positive that there were no heirs, but I guess he was wrong.

"Cazzo!" my father mutters before going on his computer and typing some things. "Did that guy in the cell say anything else, Alexander?"

"Not really. I didn't do much damage to him because I thought that you would want to handle him too," Alexander shrugs. "But he said something about the wait being over, whatever that means."

I see my father sigh.

Why does he look so scared? I have never seen my father this scared or worried or threatened before.

"Dad, what's wrong?" I ask.

"Go to your room. We will discuss this matter in the morning. Alexander, you take one of the guest bedrooms."

I refrain from asking him what’s really wrong and instead I follow Alexander out the door.
