  39. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

One hand slid across my lower back and pressed my front tightly against him. His other hand flowed up my forearm until our hands fit together. The golden eyes of an unknown monster bore into me, his smile wide. He forced our bodies to become one, moving as a single movement in a liquid dance of heated push and pull.

People moved out of his way as he spun me around, making me dizzy. I clutched his suit, our feet moved as if we were old dance partners. Our hips slid across one another, swaying and grinding. I felt the press of his erection against my belly.

This was thrilling. This was dangerous and wild. I delighted in it immediately, even knowing this could just be the primer for something much darker. He dipped me backwards, keeping our hips pressed tight. He bent over my body, inhaling my scent with a groan before snapping me back up, our mouths not an inch apart.

“What do you want? I hope it’s not your money,” I said breathlessly as we slid across the dance floor, never stopping our dance. Viktor clicked his tongue in playful disappointment before grabbing my thigh and hitching it on his body. His other hand pressed against my head and then slid down the curves of my body. Our breath mingled, our hearts beating in tune.

I wanted him. I wanted him even more sure as I was that he had come seeking retribution.

I dropped my leg and he spun me away at arm’s length. He smiled and I smirked, raising an eyebrow. He pulled me in close again. Our shoes stomped between each other’s, coordination too perfect for strangers.

“I don’t want my money,” he said into my ear. The whispered hush reverberated through my body.

“Revenge then?” I asked with a smile, feeling like I knew what he might want right this minute if his erection was any indicator. A quick rendezvous with a man who attempted to capture or kill me the other night sounded delightfully risky. I imagined him taking me to the bathroom for something dirty and nefarious, his thoughts swirling between want and rage as he peeled my pants down and pushed inside me from behind. I’d climb towards release while wondering when the other shoe would drop and he’d demand his money in a hard thrust and growled voice, his hand inching towards his gun as his balls tightened.

I felt my heart beat hard in my chest as a little satisfactory thrill zipped my senses. I needed this…I wanted it.

“Revenge,” he said in humor to my question, giving a low laugh. I looked up into his inhuman eyes. “No, Lacey Flanagan. What I want is you.” He grabbed my jaw and pressed his mouth roughly to my ear.

“I want you,” he repeated, his fingers going back to my hips and holding on tightly, moving our bodies in perfect sync. His proclamation didn’t sound like lust, it sounded like greed. I was well acquainted with that desire and I knew to be leary of it. Lust and anger could be satiated with a few actions. Greed just wanted more and more and more. Too much was never enough.
