  39. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

He pulled away but his grip tightened slightly in my hair.

“Are you ready to make dreams a reality?”

“Dreams?” The images that bothered me all day swam back up.

“Unlock me,” he said, ignoring my questions. “Unlock me and I’ll make you remember.”

“The dreams are real?” I asked as more memories swirled around, taking more solid shapes.

“Do you remember them?” He asked. “I hoped you would, Lacey. Even when I convinced myself it was better if you didn’t.”

“I…” I wasn’t sure I did remember. I remembered moments, impressions, feelings, words, groans, and claws. I remembered moaning in pleasure. I remembered crying in relief when I was filled. I remembered…

I unlocked his ankle.

“Do you remember, Lacey?” He asked as I crawled up on the bed and slid my hands around his neck. I remembered telling him I loved him. I remembered him whispering it back. I remembered him groaning until the dream shook. I swung my leg over his lap and grabbed his face, looking down at him. “Do you?” He asked, looking up into my face with earnest hope.

“I remember,” I whispered as I pressed my mouth to his. He sucked in a breath, his hands smoothing up my back as we kissed so deeply I forgot where I was, in a dream or the real world.

“I love you, Lacey,” he said.

“I know,” I said, grabbing his horns and kissing him harder—desperate and needy. He picked me up in his arms before spreading me out beneath him, our mouths never failing to touch. His taste was everywhere—spicy, sweet, and invading my senses. The air was thick, a red hue to everything as he palmed my breast and squeezed, groaning into my mouth, grinding between my legs.

“I’m going to feast on you endlessly, Lacey. I won’t ever let you go,” he said and I recalled my luck had run out. That this time things might not work out for the best. But of all the things that could befall me without any luck, this was perhaps the very best. My Greed purred, pacified and relieved. The green on my arms was fading.

I pulled Lorcan close after he peeled off my clothes.

“I’m going to try not to kill you,” he whispered softly. A shiver raced across my skin because lucky or not, I was still who I was–a greedy thrill-seeker. It was more than greed and thrill that made me shiver and hold him close though. It was because my incubus had finally arrived, unleashed from the dreams. He’d made good on his promise to come to me soon. To stop hiding in the night.

All he wanted was me. So all I wanted was him. Time lost meaning as Lorcan’s red haze drifted around the room, dulling the real world until it was just the two of us. I wasn’t sure if this was real or a dream as his tongue demanded pleasure from between my legs over and over. His mouth pulled orgasms from inside me as his fingers filled me up. His hands grabbed and smoothed over me as he brought me higher and higher, over and over.
