“There’s no need to think about what-ifs.” She turned them so Emma could see her father. Ross was handsome in his tux, and he seemed happy as he led Carmen around the floor. “Your brave soul led you here, and you have bewitched me from the moment I saw you. That might sound cheesy, but it’s true. Look around you and see what your leap of faith has brought us.” She pointed to Ross and Carmen, then at the children who were dancing in a circle. “You gave us this.”
Remi and Dallas joined them on the dance floor, and they switched dance partners. “Thank you for everything, Cain. This has been the perfect day,” Dallas said as she kissed Cain’s cheek.
“You’re welcome, but all the credit goes to Mrs. Casey. Once you finish with your honeymoon, you can start planning your sister’s wedding.”
“It’ll be nice to have a Casey in the family, as well as some Casey nieces and nephews.” Dallas laughed, then gazed up at her. “I’d like you to know that today Katie Lynn Moores is at peace. She finally learned that dreams really do come true.”
“That girl deserves peace more than anyone else I know. All you need to remember is that all her secrets died with her. You’re Dallas Jatibon now, and also a part of my family. Emma thinks of you as the sister she never had, so we’re in your corner.”
“And I love you both for it,” Dallas said, standing on her toes and kissing her cheek again.
“Hey, get your own girl,” Remi said, handing Emma back. “I think it’s time to go, so I can have my wife all to myself.”
“I like the sound of that,” Dallas said.
Cain laughed when Muriel caught the garter and the bouquet hit Kristen in the chest. “Have fun and don’t worry about anything,” Cain told Remi. “Mano and I have it all covered.”
“Thanks, and you throw one hell of a party.” Remi hugged her before taking Dallas’s hand and waving to everyone as they headed for the front door. They were spending the night in the new house before leaving for Key West for the week.
The party went on past one in the morning, and Cain sat with Ramon and Vincent for a drink while Emma went up and put everyone under the age of fifteen to bed, with Abigail’s help. The men finished their last glass before gathering their dates and wishing them good night. Linda Bender and her brothers had retired to the pool house, so all that was left was the catering crew. For outsiders, Linda and her family appeared to have had a good time, and she’d sat and talked to her once dinner had been cleared.
