“Welcome back,” Colin said, bending to kiss her cheek before he sat. “We’re on for tonight, and I’ve had the Rhodes fuckers watched the whole time you were gone. You don’t know Jerome, so I had some pictures taken of the father while he was out. Maybe that might knock something loose in here.” Colin tapped his head.
The picture of the older man made her stare. There was something vaguely familiar about him, but she couldn’t quite grasp it. “This guy looks familiar, but I can’t place him.”
“We’ll find out later, I guess. I talked to Vincent, and he’s all in on letting us use the private room that leads down to the meeting room. I called Hector for you too.”
“Good.” She continued staring at the picture, but nothing came to her. Remi came in and she handed the picture to her. “Recognize this guy?”
“I’ve got no idea, but I have good news. The Biloxi casino is back at full capacity, and we’ve been approved for the hotel expansion we planned.”
They sat and covered a few more things that needed both their attention before stopping for lunch and some more wedding planning with Emma and Dallas. Their job was to sit there and agree with whatever both women wanted. Cain listened and nodded when Emma looked at her, but that picture was still on her mind.
“We have everything we need for the yard covered, and the tent will arrive in two days, so they can start putting down the floor.” Emma checked something off in a notebook, and Dallas did the same. “And we have your last fitting this afternoon.”
“Kristen wants to come with us. Until I had you all, she was the only family I had, but this has been a blessing. Thanks for everything, you two,” Dallas said, smiling like she was the happiest woman in existence.
“Goddammit,” Cain yelled, a puzzle piece sliding into place. The outburst made them all jump.
“Derby Cain Casey, what in the holy hell is the matter with you?” Emma said in a tone that meant she was pissed.
“Sorry, and we are family, Dallas, but I just thought of something that should’ve occurred to me earlier.” She went and got the picture off her desk. “Who does this look like if you darken the hair?” She handed the picture to Emma.
“He does seem like someone I should know,” Emma said covering his hair with her hand.
