“I think it’s time to invite our neighbor for a chat,” she said. They were having breakfast after the kids had left for school. She’d sent a few more guards with the kids, with Levi’s blessing. “I know you don’t like Hector, but he might have some clue we haven’t found. Dino did us a solid and worked through the layers the person who ordered the hit on the pub put between themselves and the moron who made the call.”

“What’d he find?” Colin asked. He’d sent Judice back to deal with the business, but she was coming back that weekend. With Finley and her new family staying with them, they had a full house.

“The last guy gave up the name Pablo Castillo. I have no clue who that is, but Castillo put out some cash as well as promises about a new supply chain of crack and heroin, and the lowlife jumped at the chance to do business with him. The only other time I’ve heard that name is when you mentioned it,” she said, pointing at Colin.

“Castillo is who called me,” Colin said.

“You don’t have friends in the DEA, do you?” Finley asked Cain.

“I have plenty of friends, but that’s one section of law enforcement where I haven’t needed any. Sept Savoie may be able to help us out if Hector doesn’t know. I’ll give her a call if it’s necessary.” She put her arm around Emma’s waist when she poured her another cup of coffee. “Until we have everything we need on all this, remember to be careful, and don’t go out alone, any of you.”

“Is it okay for me to go to work?” Abigail asked. This was the first time Cain had seen her dressed for work since they’d gotten back. “The hospital and clinic should be fine, don’t you think?”

“It should be okay, but how about you make Finley and me feel better by having someone keep you company?” She pointed to Shaun Quinn, who was standing with Dino. “Shaun promises not to bother you, but he’ll be inside with you until you’re ready to come back. There’ll be a few more outside, but like Shaun, they’ll be invisible.”

“Thank you,” Abigail said, her eyes on the tall blond young man. “I’d tell you I don’t need anything like this, but I’ll feel better not making it easy for Nicola.”

“Shaun, don’t let me down, and don’t scare any of the kids,” she said, making Abigail laugh.

“Fin, let’s make that call and get Hector’s take on all things Rhodes.”

Everyone stood, and she kissed Emma as Fin and Abigail said their good-byes. “Are you going anywhere today?” Emma asked.
