“Thanks, Levi, I will. Please leave your phone on, and answer if Cain needs to talk to you. If you don’t mind calling Sept Savoie and sending her a copy of that video, I’d appreciate it.” She hung up and squeezed the phone when Dallas pressed their shoulders together. “Fuck,” she said. The last thing she wanted to do was tell Abigail and Finley this.

“Fuck indeed, but you have to tell them,” Dallas said as if reading her mind.

“Let’s go.” They climbed the stairs and she went to Hayden’s room before facing Abigail. She was going to need the support.

“What’s wrong?” Finley said, looking up from her laptop.

“Come on, I only want to say this once.” They entered her bedroom. “Levi Layke just called us,” she said, telling them the whole story. “Let’s take a look at who this is.” They all followed her to the office next door. She’d wanted Cain close when she was working from home so she could remind her to take a break, and she’d furnished the room with some things from home to make her comfortable.

She opened Cain’s computer and put in her password. They all squeezed together behind her and watched as four people moved throughout the school as if not worried about anything. Abigail put her hand on her shoulder as if needing to steady herself when she watched the tall woman stare at the picture Victoria had done before crushing it in her hand and tossing it away.

“Nicola. Oh my God, Fin, we need to call my parents.” Abigail turned and spoke in a loud panicked tone. “If she looks into you, she’s going to use them to get to us.”

“The house is listed under a dummy company that has so many layers it’ll take years to wade through them, but you’re right. I’d feel better if they left and went somewhere safer.” Finley put her arms around Abigail and held her as she started crying.

“I’ll send one of the guys to pick them up and bring them to our house. That’s where you two and the kids will be staying until this is over,” Emma said, putting a hand on each of their shoulders. “This is the proof we needed that she’s close, but there’s no reason to make it easy on her.”

“She’s never going to stop until she’s dead,” Abigail said, and the anger overtook her tears. “Damn her, she’s never going to stop.”

“Baby, listen to what Emma is saying. Why do you think I left the bureau and came back to my family?” Finley cupped Abigail’s face and gently shifted so she could look at her. “I want to keep you safe, without you having to give up your life.”
