“She’s in Wisconsin,” Nathan said, giving her the town. “The woman you’re looking for is Lorna Green.” He gave her an address and phone number, and she hoped this was the right person. “Someone accessed her information along with six other women who fit the profile of who I was searching for. Hopefully, they haven’t narrowed it down yet. And no, I couldn’t tell who else was looking. Just that they were.”
“Are you sure she’s the one?” After hearing what Linda had done and why she’d taken her brothers, she was willing to buy her freedom. “I’m not questioning your ability.”
“You kind of are,” Nathan said, chuckling.
“What I mean is, I don’t want to pick wrong, and Linda gets killed because we missed.”
“I know, and don’t worry about it. If I’m wrong, it’ll weigh on my conscience, but I’m not wrong. You need to get to her and convince her to move before someone less friendly comes along.”
“Thanks, Nathan, and I’ll call you as soon as I find her. Once we talk, she’ll need your help to truly set her free.” She glanced at all the information she’d written down and hoped he was right. Linda’s reward for what she’d turned over to the feds shouldn’t be hours of torture before she got a bullet to the head.
“I’m ready, and I’ll make sure she’ll never be found.”
“He found her?” Lou asked when she hung up and folded the paper to put in her pocket.
“He did, but it sounds like he’s not the only one. We need to leave as soon as possible.” She glanced at her watch. If they left in the next few hours, they could head toward Linda and reach her before sunrise. “Remi shouldn’t take too long, so we’ll fly after that.” She called Emma and told her what Nathan had said. Emma was familiar with the area, and it was a miracle that Linda had landed an hour’s drive from them.
“Do you think Linda held something back from the FBI?” Lou asked.
“She wasn’t in a position to need a favor,” she said as she sat in Muriel’s study. The pictures of her father and uncle were sitting on the desk, and she had to smile at the expressions on their faces. It didn’t seem that long ago that she sat in their room and listened to the two brothers tease each other and laugh at all their memories of growing up. “You only give up the house when you need a favor.”
“So why she’d do it?”
