  65. About the Author

Right now, I am in the middle of getting ready for the yearly Mafia ball. My dad told Alexander and me about it a week ago when we first moved into this house and Alexander asked me to the ball the day after.

Lately, he and I have been ehhh, civil, I guess you could call it.

There have been moments where I want to kiss him and then other moments when I want to deck him in the face. Like when I was cooking breakfast in the morning yesterday, he came into the kitchen and slapped my ass. I then kicked him in the dick. Might seem harsh but he shouldn't have slapped my ass; his fault.

But most of the time I do want to kiss him and tell him I love him. I’m just scared he doesn’t feel the same way.

"So, what's up? Thought you weren’t talking to me?" I ask while putting my shoes on.

"I wanted to apologize for being a dick to you."

"Why were you being one in the first place?"

"I don't know," Killian shrugs as he sits down on my bed. "I was mad."

"Mad about what?" I say as I finish putting my shoes on.

"At the world. Her name was Robin," Killian states and I look up at him. "She was uh, one of my best friends.” I walk over to my bed and sit down next to Killian. "But then she died, and I guess it hurt a lot," Killian says sadly. "The world makes something so beautiful and pure and then takes it away from you and destroys it."

That explains a lot.

"Tell me about her," I state.

Killian lifts his lips a little. "She was super sarcastic and always had an attitude and a comeback to everything I would say. She was always kind to people no matter who they were, she showed sympathy for people who needed it."

"Sounds like she was one hell of a girl."

"She was," Killian says sadly.

I sighed. "Killian, she is in a good place, don't worry. They are taking care of her. I'm glad you told me though."

"I thought you deserved to know because I have been acting like a dick as I said."

"It's understandable. You lost someone you cared about."

"I didn't realize how much I cared about her until she was gone."

"Did you love her?" I ask after a few seconds of staying silent.

"I don’t know.”

"That bird is a Robin I’m guessing?"

"Yea. I got it after she died.”

"How did she die?"

"Seizure. She had type 1 diabetes and her sugar went low causing her to have one and no one was around to give her the shot thing."

"I'm so sorry, Killian. But that's life. It's a cruel motherfucker."

"I just don't understand why."
