- About the Author
Martin frowned slightly at the dress Kiera was holding but then he managed to flip it into a smile. He told her she was beautiful and that he was proud of her, and I loved seeing the warmth in his eyes. He might not like me, but he loved Kiera, without a doubt, and I respected the hell out of him for that. He’s what a parent should be. And, of course, that thought made me think of Gavin again. Goddamn it. I don’t want to see him. I was still avoiding his texts, but they’d eased up considerably once Kiera had given him the invite. No…he didn’t need to keep bugging me now that he knew he was getting his way and we were meeting. Fuck.
Shaking my head out of those thoughts, I focused on Kiera thanking her dad for his kind words. Kiera’s parents had flown in yesterday too, but they’d landed a few hours after me. Knowing when they’d come in—since I’d purchased their tickets—I’d taken full advantage of our brief time alone together. Damn. She should have been wearing that dress yesterday. Oh well…we were pretty good at being quiet when we needed to be.
Kiera looked uncomfortable for a moment, then she laughed. “Can I…change now?” Her question was clearly directed only at Martin and Anna. It made me happy that she hadn’t included me in her dismissal. Good. After all this time, she should be able to change in front of me without any hesitation or need to coverup. Even if I was blatantly staring at her body…daydreaming about all the things I could do to it. And there were so many things I could do…
Lost in those delicious thoughts, I vaguely heard Anna say something about food. Hmmm…food…I wonder if we still have that bottle of Hershey’s syrup? Hearing my name being said interrupted my dirty little fantasy.
“Kellan, son, you want to give me a hand with…something?”
I had to grin at Martin’s clumsy attempt to protect his daughter’s virtue by getting me out of the room. He had to know that ship had sailed long ago. Ah, denial. That was something I could understand. And…did he just call me son? Damn. That was pretty huge of him, so of course I needed to be respectful and comply.
My smile was bright as I stood up. Maybe there was still a chance for him to like me. “Sure, no problem,” I peppily told him.
