- About the Author
“Ugh, man, I feel like shit,” I said, looking over at Evan on his bed. My stomach hurt, my head hurt, and my eyes felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. My only consolation was the fact that I knew Griffin felt just as crappy as I did. We’d really overdone it.
Evan looked back at me and grinned. “What did you think was gonna happen? Why would you even play that game with Griffin? Did you learn nothing from Goldschläger night?”
A brief recollection of that incident flashed through my mind. It had happened years ago, back when we’d lived in L.A., but just remembering it was enough to make me queasy. I put one hand on my stomach, the other I held in the air in warning. “Don’t talk about that night. Please.”
He laughed again, shaking his head. I was closing my eyes to, hopefully, pass out, when our hotel room door was suddenly—and loudly—banged on. “Kellan…Evan…Let me in!”
Evan and I exchanged glances, then I groggily got out of bed and opened the door. Griffin was standing there, pouting. He looked worse than I did…and that made me kind of happy. “I have to sleep here,” he grumbled. “Matt kicked me out.”
“What did you do?” Evan said with a laugh.
As I closed the door behind Griffin, he scowled at Evan. “I didn’t do anything to that fucker, but he said he needed to be alone.” He rolled his eyes. “I think he just wanted to jack-off in peace.”
Remembering through the haze of my drunken afternoon, to the conversation I’d had earlier with Matt, I bit my lip to conceal my grin. I was pretty sure I knew why Matt had kicked him out, and in a way, Griffin was right—that was exactly what he was doing. Good for you, Matt. I knew how nervous he’d been about it, and I was pretty proud of him for trying it anyway…which meant, I had to help him out and take in Griffin. Containing my sigh, I indicated my bed. “Come on, you can sleep with me.”
Looking exhausted and pained, Griffin walked over and crashed onto my mattress. Because I couldn’t resist some ground rules, I told him, “You snuggle, you die.”
Griffin snorted, then rolled over and cupped his junk. “Ah, come on, Kell, I know you want this. I’ve seen the way you look at me.”
The look on his face was making my already-nauseated stomach start to churn. Grimacing, I pointed over to Evan’s bed. “On second thought, sleep with him.”
Curled up in his blankets, looking completely comfortable about being Griffin-free, Evan immediately tossed out, “Nope, not it.”
Goddamn it. Matt owed me.
