- About the Author
Justin’s grin was giddy. “We’re moving your band up the lineup. You’re gonna play right before us now.”
My jaw dropped as that settled into my brain. “But…we were the last band to sign up…”
The woman beside him smiled warmly at me. “And you’ve made quite an impression. We’ve heard the buzz about your band all the way in L.A.”
I tilted my head, even more confused. She smiled wider and held out her hand. “Lana Torres. I work for Vivasec Records. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Glancing at Justin, I took her hand. “It’s nice to meet you too.” What was someone from Justin’s label doing here? Was that odd or normal? I had no idea.
After we separated, Lana clasped her hands together and looked me over. She had dark hair, dark skin, dark eyes, classic bone structure…she was incredibly beautiful. I hoped she didn’t hit on me. Rejecting someone from the label might be…bad.
Flicking a glance at Justin, Lana murmured, “You’re absolutely right. He has exactly the right image.”
“Right image for what?” I asked.
Her grin grew. “For everything.” She let that word hover in the air for a moment before explaining. “Vivasec is always looking for new talent to add to the label. I’m going to be joining the tour for a while, to see if anyone here fits the bill, and I will definitely be keeping a close eye on you, Kellan Kyle.” She looked between the two of us for a moment, then gave us a polite head nod. “Have a great show.”
She turned and left after that, her head high, her demeanor confident. I felt dazed when I looked over at Justin. Was I dreaming? Or did that mean…what I thought it meant? Justin bounced on his toes, then smacked my arm. “She wants you, dude. I can tell.” I frowned at him, and he shook his head of messy blond hair. “Not like that, trust me. She’s top-notch, total professional. And she’ll only take on the best. And I’m telling you, she wants the D-Bags. I can feel it.”
I smiled at him, trying to absorb what that might mean. A label wanted us? To record an album? To actually fucking record an album…oh my God. It was so dreamlike though…I couldn’t fully embrace the idea. I didn’t want to get too excited about it, didn’t want to get my hopes up. Mine or the guys’. It was best to just let that simmer on the back burner for a while. We’ll see what happens.
But the other news…that was definitely something I could tell the guys about.
