“Hell yes, I do. Again, though, that’s on me. My sin, not yours.”
“You think it’s a sin?”
He exhales a long time. “I think we all sin all the time. I think God knows this about us and still allows us beautiful things. So, we accept the grace that God offers, despite that. And it’s a for-life kind of deal. One and done. You accept that grace, and it covers you completely. God knows about every lustful thought I will have before I’m born. No take backs. I don’t think I’m tainted because of it. It’s not going to send me to hell. It’s already been forgiven.”
I nod. “Back home, two of my friends, Cullen and Zack, have been in love for years. They are some of the best humans I have ever known. Their love is the healthiest love I’ve ever seen. It can’t possibly be sinful.”
“Speaking of Ann Arbor, Duke said he was going to apply to U of M. He needs to get out of here.”
“Ann Arbor would be better with him in it.”
Micah reaches two fingers out, placing them under my chin and tilting my face to his. “Marquette is better with you in it.”
“Ugh. Fine. I guess I can forgive you for dragging my butt up to this stupid-beautiful place in the middle of the night.” I’m smiling when my lips meet his.

MEG: Hi, Dad. I miss you. Which is weird because I’m not sure I really know you. Not the real you. Am I crazy for thinking you’ve been keeping secrets

MEG: Hi, Dad. I just wanted to tell you that I love you. And you can tell me anything. About yourself. And I will still love you. Even if you like men. That kind of thing. Oh my gosh, this is awkward. Just … know that I love you and miss you. I’m still mad at you and Mom about the lying thing. But anyway. I love you. I’m in Marquette, getting to know Andrew’s family. I’m sure Mom told you. Write me back. Or call. I promise to pick up even though I hate talking on the phone.
