Chapters (42)
Anyway. If you’ve made it to the end of this book, you know the rest. Meg and Micah have told you the rest. Clearly, there was no turning back for me after that. I had to write this story, and once I opened the floodgates and picked up my proverbial pen-as-sword, it was as though I’d purged something. I know not everyone who reads this will approve. I try not to care about that, but I do. Like Meg, I want approval. But in the end, it’s not the approval of readers that I seek. I hope this story heals and helps. I suspect for some it will. It certainly has for me.
Friends, I’ve spent my life sinning. Like constantly. Little sins all day long; big sins, too, if you’re into ranking. But I’ve also lived knowing that God’s grace covers me, and his love is everything.
I don’t give a shit if you sin. Or don’t sin. What I care about, so deeply, is that you know that no matter what, no matter who you are, or aren’t, God loves you. And so do I.
And Meg and Micah and every character I ever write would love you, too.
With love,
Erin Hahn

I feel like I’ve been writing this story in my heart for most of my life, but I never would have gotten it to the page if not for …
The encouragement and relentless enthusiasm from my editor, the Best Editor, Vicki Lame.
The calm and cool, levelheaded insight from my agent, the Best Agent, Kate McKean.
The backing and complete support of my publisher, the Best Imprint, Wednesday Books.
The ridiculous talent and patience of my publishing team at Wednesday Books, including, but never limited to, DJ DeSmyter, Kerri Resnick, Mary Moates, and Jennie Conway.
The spot-on feedback from my earliest readers, Kelly Coon and Karen McManus.
The lovely and thoughtful blurbs (which made me feel like maybe I wasn’t making a terrible error in judgment pouring my heart into a book like this) from Ashley Schumacher (thank YOU for being my Vada and sending me a song when I needed it most), Erin Craig, Laura Taylor Namey, and Joy McCullough.
The twenty years of friendship, fellowship, prayer, and laughter that inspired Meg and her mom—my 915 Pine/Bible study girls: Kelly Laarman, Lindsay VonQualen, Katie Willett, Maria Gibson, Aimee Hougaboom, and Meg Markoya. I hope I’ve done it justice, friends.
My husband, Mike, who taught me about Jesus, who loved me as I was, whose discernment and patience inspired Micah Allen, and who has stood by my side and supported me even when I told him, “I think this book might get some people mad at me.” I couldn’t write a love interest better than the one God wrote for me.
