“I’m sorry.” She didn’t sound even a tiny bit sorry, but I refrained from saying so. “Mr. Davis is completely booked today. Perhaps we can schedule a time for you to meet with him later in the week.”
I could see that this gatekeeper wasn’t willingly going to let me through, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. She had obviously been expecting me to accept her offer of an appointment later in the week, so I used her preoccupation with pulling up Sam’s electronic calendar as an opportunity to scurry past her.
She quickly caught on to me and got up to chase after me. “Ma’am, you can’t go in there,” she called out, but I had a head start on her, and I wasn’t turning back now. I half-walked, half-jogged down a long hallway of offices. I had correctly guessed that Sam’s would be near the end.
Straight ahead of me, at the very end of the hallway was a nameplate that read Sutton Davis. I hadn’t considered that I might see Sam’s father today. Hopefully, I could make it in and out of here without bumping into him because I wasn’t prepared for that.
Just prior to Sutton’s office, was a nameplate that read Sam Davis. Seeing his name made me feel all gushy inside. I normally would have knocked to announce my presence, but Janine was hot on my heels, so I barged right on in.
What I saw inside nearly took my breath away. Sam was sitting at a huge, shiny mahogany desk looking devilishly handsome in a dark suit and tie. Atop his desk was a beautiful, busty woman in a low-cut gray, pinstriped dress and red stilettos. Her long, tan legs were crossed gracefully, and she was leaning towards Sam’s chair with her gigantic tits thrust way too close to his face.
I looked at her golden hair that was swirled up into an elegant French twist. Unwanted, the mental image popped into my head of her gracefully removing the pins that held her hair and letting it fall in a wavy blonde drape over Sam as she mounted him on his black leather executive chair. I closed my eyes in an irrational attempt to oust the sexy image my mind had envisioned. That tactic only served to make it worse, so I opened my eyes to drink in the actual scene.
Blondie turned to see what the interruption was and looked at me like I was a piece of chewed-up bubble gum stuck to the bottom of her shoe.
“Abby!” Sam stood up as he said the word. “Is everything okay?”
I nodded as Janine burst into the room. “I’m sorry, Mr. Davis. I tried to stop her.”
“It’s fine, Janine,” he reassured the distraught woman, who turned and quickly exited the room.
