I had never tasted anything so delicious in my whole life, and I savored every bite. He watched me eating it, obviously enjoying the show. “That was soooo hot,” he commented when I was finally finished with the peach. “I’ll probably never be able to look at a peach again without getting serious wood.”
He eased forward and gently kissed and licked the peach juice that was dripping down my face. “Mmm, it is sweet.”
Courtney sauntered into the kitchen with Seth right behind her. “Get a room,” she said the snarky comment with a smile, so we would know she was just teasing. I had been so engrossed in eating my peach that I had almost forgotten they were in the living room.
“We have something to show you boys,” I snapped my fingers, realizing that this was the perfect time for them to see the painting I had purchased for the nursery.
They both seemed to really like it, and I was still thrilled with it. Every time I looked at it, I liked it more and more. “I’m so excited to finally have a plan for Peanut’s room.”
Something in the way Court was looking at me made me pause after I said the words. “What?” I asked her cautiously.
“Ummm…” I could tell by her stalling that it was something I wasn’t going to like. I continued looking at her, awaiting an explanation. “Well, it’s just that Peanut doesn’t seem to be an appropriate name for the baby anymore.” She nodded her head down to my growing belly. “I mean, not to be rude, but the baby is clearly quite a bit bigger than a peanut.”
I grinned at her to let her know that I was perfectly fine with this potentially touchy subject. I was thrilled with my ever-expanding belly, which provided a constant reminder that my baby was thriving and healthy. “Good point.” I nodded at her. “What’s a good new name?” I looked at all three of them.
Sam answered, “Well, you sure seemed to enjoy that peach.”
“Perfect!” I exclaimed. “That was my first craving, so it seems appropriate. Peaches, it is.”
Sam and Seth’s heads both snapped up. “Peaches? Is it twins?” Sam asked.
I hated to dash the hopeful look in their eyes, but I didn’t have any choice. “No, it’s only one baby.” I smiled at them. “I just thought Peaches sounded cuter than Peach. Besides, my belly is already bigger than one peach.” I patted my tummy for emphasis.
“You got that right.” Seth placed a brotherly arm around my shoulders as he teased me. Courtney swatted at him playfully for picking on me.
“Speaking of that, what’s for dinner?” I had asked the question in all seriousness, but it made all four of us start cracking up.
“We better go feed Preggo,” Court said over her shoulder as she led the way downstairs.
