Chapters (41)
I couldn’t help but smile as I turned the corner and heard Seth say to Courtney, “I’ll rewind the movie to where we were before you interrupted us.” I didn’t hear Court’s retort, but I was sure they’d still be bickering when I got back.

I should have known that our happy little arrangement was too good to last. Seth brought me back to reality one afternoon by saying, “It’s time to tell my family about the baby.”
I had been dreading this day since finding out that I was pregnant. I knew that it had to be done, but telling Seth’s frightening father, formidable mother, and doting sister about Peanut was a terrifying prospect, and all of that paled in comparison to having to tell Sam.
I was unsure how much the rest of the Davis family knew about my relationship with Sam, but I was certain that they were at least aware of the basics of my shameful situation. Sleeping with identical twins was something that I had never imagined I could or would do. Facing their family was one of the many consequences that I had failed to consider before jumping into bed with Sam.
Even though I had believed at the time that my relationship with Seth was over, it was still a despicable thing to do. I had felt an indescribable, all-consuming attraction to Sam, and I was confident that my monumental desire for him had not abated in the slightest. I wanted to believe that I could resist him. After all, he was a player, and I knew that he used women solely for sex and arm-candy.
Catching him wearing only a towel with another woman made me want to despise him, but I just didn’t have it in me. I still wanted him, and I was afraid that if he said the word, I would go running back to him for any attention he was willing to dole out. The last thing I wanted was to be a desperate, clingy booty call that he only contacted when he couldn’t drum up someone better, but I was afraid that if I didn’t guard my feelings closely, that is exactly what I would become.
I wondered what he would think about the baby. The idea of it would probably completely frighten him. He wasn’t ready to give up his wild ways and be a family man, and he had never made any pretenses about it. He would have to at least wonder if it was his though, wouldn’t he?
