In this fantasy, then, it might be supposed that women are larger and stronger than men, with consequent effect on the social position of men. All other determinants, such as intelligence and aggressiveness, being equal, obviously, over a large population, strength and size will determine who it will be who occupies choice positions. These lessons, of course, will be taught the inferior sex almost from the cradle. They will learn who it is who can be first in line if he wishes, whether he chooses to be or not. The fantasy might be laid on another world, or, interestingly, it could be laid on our world, in the future, after, say, certain mutations have taken place, perhaps due to radiation. Perhaps girl babies start growing into larger, stronger organisms than male babies. In five hundred years, this could make quite a difference. On the other hand, one could always suppose that women are as beautiful and desirable as they are now, but that, somehow, they come to a dominant position. Perhaps they learn some sort of mind-control techniques, or some genius woman inventor equips and supplies them with a type of weapon which can cause men great pain if they do not obey. Perhaps men wear “pain collars” which can cause them excruciating agony if they are not pleasing. Such collars may be actuated by the controlling female, or, selectively, or collectively, from a control center operated by female personnel. Each collar responds to a different signal, but there is a common signal to which all respond. Perhaps for one hour, once a year, the common signal is broadcast, to keep men in their place. Further, if the collar is tampered with, the pain commences. Keys to these collars, or methods for removing them, are kept in secret, well-guarded places by superbly trained, well-armed women. Or, if one likes, one may suppose that the male is merely a slave of, say, a Queen or Ruling Female, who has guards and an army at her disposal.
Her interest in the male slave, perhaps observed from her palanquin, is not Platonic. It is sexual. He is as much a sex object to her as any woman could be to any man. He is ordered to her chambers to please her.
