Role playing is fun. Almost any human being with imagination enjoys role playing. Some women are superb actresses; others are not. Some men are superb actors; others are not. Some men and women take to roles swiftly, imaginatively and creatively; others do not. Yet almost everyone enjoys playing, from time to time, that he is someone else, or that he is himself in some unusual and rather different context. It enriches our lives and is rich in gratification. Similarly, in our fantasies, role playing occurs. If we do not do this sort of thing overtly, as for example in theatrical work, or vicariously, in reading, we do so in our daydreams. Both men and women, of course, fantasize. Although there are no limits on imaginative sex, other than those consequent on the limitations of the imaginations of the participants, most sexual fantasy, in both men and women, has as its core, under thousands of variations, forced sexual congress, imbedded in a matrix of elements of dominance and submission.
