In short, I am not interested in claiming that imaginative sex is normal either in the descriptive or evaluative sense. I do think, of course, it can bring great happiness and pleasure to human beings. Also, our notions of “normality” change, and even descriptive normalities change. It is not impossible that in a liberated future where we have discovered not simply the genitals but also that we have minds, that what now seems so revolutionary, so peculiar and different, imaginative sex, may come to be a normal modality of human sexual experience, normal in both the descriptive and evaluative sense. That would indeed be a loving and beautiful future to envision.
