From these hills now one can see a portion of such a farm, in the valley. It is a breeding facility. One can make out the high, steel-wire fence from here, beyond which lies the force field, set to torture and stun, and the guards’ occasional patrol vehicles. Within the fence one can see the long dormitory sheds, and the mating sheds, with their chains and mating stalls, and the commissary, and the water tanks, the food troughs, the examination, administration and medical facilities, etc. On a farm such as that are kept several thousand young, beautiful slave females, used for breeding. When they attain twenty-five years of age they are transferred to other facilities to be disposed of on the market. These women are kept as simple breeding stock, to be regularly inseminated by a selected stock of handsome, strong stud males. Perhaps, we might suppose, through the aliens’ science, the reproductive cycle is considerably shortened, and, perhaps also, the maturation parameters of offspring are steepened and forced, to permit a greater yield of the slave crop. We leave this detail undecided; resolve it as you will. For certain, the aliens would prefer for the time from conception to market to be as short as possible. But we may suppose it still takes seventeen or eighteen years to ready a specimen. It does not matter.
Many of the girls at the breeding facility are bred slaves, and have known only the farms. They were among the most beautiful and servile perhaps, bred from the most beautiful and servile before them, and so on. But some of the girls at the breeding unit are captures, fresh wenches snared and hooded on Earth, to be brought here as slaves.
Our heroine is one such, a beautiful, excitingly bodied wench who has had the misfortune to fall to alien slavers. Perhaps her entire sorority was taken, the aliens striking suddenly, sealing off the entire building with a force field, surprising the girls in their sleep, quickly stripping and chaining them and taking them to their ship, to disappear again in a matter of minutes. The other girls have been distributed elsewhere. This girl, our heroine, was selected for breeding. Unknown to her, a proud, intellectual girl, she has an abnormally high percentage of female hormones. Unknown to her, and horrifingly to her, if she knew, she is not simply a neuter person, given the identity-of-the-sexes theory then popular on Earth, but, latently, a fully female person, psychologically as well as physically. This terrible information was never revealed to her, in her own best interest. It might have produced depression, and neurotic attempts to overcompensate, to prove her lack of femininity. The aliens, of course, immediately determine her unusual femininity, and consign her to the breeding farms. She, biologically, latently, a true woman, requires only the proper stimulus situation to release her deliberately and painfully suppressed instincts. Sex on Earth, at this time, is unimportant. Adult minds are not supposed to consider it seriously. Some breeding takes place, but commonly to fill certain quotas, and much impregnating is by artificial insemination. The child conceived is then, often, after the first week, removed from the womb and, if desired, raised in solution. Only animals continue to bear their own young. Sex was taken as the great argument in favor of the division of the sexes. Accordingly, visionary feminists, with large male hormone indices, realized that sex must be suppressed. Their political programs as their organizations became large and powerful, became successful. Their slogan was “There is only one sex—the human sex!” This was carried by the media, reflecting the ethos of the dominant establishment, and programmed into the young in education. Quotas for occupations were established; jobs, paradoxically in a putatively sexless society, now began, in many cases, to specify female genitalia as a necessary condition for employment; superior qualifications, whether of a male or female, were no longer of particular importance; female certifying institutions, closed to males, were established, a diploma from which certified the female as fully qualified to fill any societal position; accordingly, there could never be question of the female’s qualifications; the genitalia remained crucial.
