She proceeded to 36C, her nerves now somewhat calmed. She supposed now that everyone willing to have police protection was covered, finding the killer would be significantly easier. Or maybe Dillinger himself would be able to offer her some information that would help them find the killer.
She knocked on the door and stepped inside the room. As she did, her phone buzzed a single time in her pocket, indicating she had a text. Even though she knew it could be one of several people (Jack, Paiges sitter, maybe even Peter, or someone tied to Alex Lynch) she ignored it for the moment. Right now, her full attention needed to be on Seth Dillinger.
Mr. Dillinger? she called as she stepped into the room.
She got a weak Yeah? in response.
She entered the room and found a man of about forty or so laying in bed. He had brown hair and eyes, the hair hanging mostly over his brow. A ragged-looking beard wasnt quite fully grown in, showing about a weeks worth of growth. An IV had been placed into his left arm. He looked very tired and clearly unhappy to be in the hospital.
Mr. Dillinger, my name is Rachel Gift. Im a special agent with the FBI. I understand youve had a very active morning, so Ill make this quick.
FBI? What…um ok. Whats going on?
Over the last few days, three people have been killed and they are all on the transplant list for a liver. I came to your house this morning to warn you about this and to question you but found that youd had a turn for the worse.
Thats for sure. Its my own damned fault, though. I wasnt the best about taking my meds regularly. But…for real? Theres someone killing people on the transplant list?
It seems that way. Currently the local police are contacting each person and asking if theyd be okay with police protection until the matter is solved.
Oh. Well…, he stopped and gestured around at the room. Seems like Im in a pretty safe place for now, right?
All the same, well likely have someone stationed outside of your room for the next day or so. I just thought youd want to know.
He shrugged, but it was evident by his expression that he wasnt the biggest fan of this idea. Fine by me. He grinned at her in a sleepy sort of way, one she thought might have come off as flirtatious if he wasnt so weary. Feel free to poke your head back in every now and then. Youd likely be the only visitor I get.
Ignoring this, Rachel sidestepped to one final course of conversation. Mr. Dillinger, in the time that youve been ill, has there ever been anyone that has approached you in a negative way?
