“I’ll miss you,” I pouted. “Too much.”
“I’ll make sure I get back out here this fall. Graham’s talking of leaving the Vineyard at the end of October, so my schedule will be more flexible. Oh, and guess who’s coming out next week?”
“Who?”
“Zack Walters. His band and their entire families.”
“Holy crap. Why?”
“Graham says they’ve decided to do a reunion tour, but first they want to re-record old music.”
Zach Walters had been one of the largest rock stars several years ago. He’d been under CocoRock Productions ever since the beginning. One of the nicest guys I’d ever met, and I’d spent some time with him when he was just getting started. Granted, back then I was a gangly teenager going through some awkward years and he was a hotshot in his early twenties, but he’d been cool to me. He got married to an even kinder woman named Nicole, and then the rest of the band slowly did as well. After they started having children and didn’t want to tour ten months out of the year, they slowed down on the music production.
My grandma had been heartbroken but understood.
“No way! For real?”
“Scout’s honor. Graham’s team is planning on announcing as soon as they get the album done.”
“Tell him I said hello, and make sure he gives me good tickets and backstage passes if they tour this way.”
“What are you two ladies squealing about?” Tracy asked, and I realized we were now stopped outside the locker room.
I glanced at Heather. I wasn’t a part of CocoRock in any form outside of being an heir, but since I didn’t have anything to do with the business, it wasn’t my news to spill.
“Graham won’t care. He trusts me.” She turned to her parents. “Zach Walters and his band are coming back for a reunion tour. Plans to start right after the holidays.”
“Oh. Well, that’s… nice.”
Heather and I both laughed at Tracy. If her music didn’t have the class country squawk in it, she wanted nothing do with it. “I hope that goes well for them.”
“Sure, Mom. Right.”
Heather and I collapsed into each other, laughing, while Tracy’s brows furrowed in confusion. “What’d I say?”
“Nothing, Mom.” Heather peeled away from me to give her a hug. “You are perfect just the way you are.”
And wasn’t that the truth. I wasn’t sure they made them better than Tracy Andrews.
“Emmersyn?”
I turned at the sound of a woman calling my name and smiled at Alicia. “Alicia. Hi! How are you?”
“Good. Good. Just leaving the media area. We, uh, talked to Kane. About the game. Someone brought up your marriage and wedding.”
“Oh?”
And with a snap, reality was slamming back into me. “Was… did everything go okay?”
“Great.” She smiled, and that relieved tension settling between my shoulders. “But since you’re here, and his whole family is, I’m thinking I could get some pictures of you and have Kane post them on social media pages?”
