“Ah, so not you then,” I said and Lorcan muffled a laugh. Viktor shot him a look.
“No. Dullahan here gets to be number one. When you have the power to kill anyone with just a couple words, it tends to make people nervous.”
“What?” I rasped out, half choking on the words as I stumbled away from the giant.
“What words?” I asked.
“Your name. That’s why it’s best he never knows the full thing.” Perfect that the first night we met, he had said my full name right to my face. I felt dizzy; I was going to pass out. I never had a choice in the matter here. Dullahan could kill me in a second—one little half-second of being pissed off and I was done for.
“She’s going to pass out,” Viktor said and I felt Dullahan grab me as my vision grew dim. I practically fell into his arms like a damsel. But then I clawed at him blindly until he hissed and dropped me on the ground.
“You can’t kill me! You need my luck!” I said, crawling away on my hands and knees toward Viktor. Not because I thought he was the one that could save me. No, I moved to Viktor because he was the one who had what I wanted.
I snatched his pants leg. He looked down at me with a raised eyebrow as I sat up on my knees.
“Are you going to beg to help us now?” He asked with a smile.
“Give me the fucking building, you asshole,” I snapped. His eyebrows went up and his mouth opened. Sometimes he seemed so flabbergasted by my responses. I imagined him betting on what I was going to say in his head and getting shocked when he was wrong. He recovered quickly.
“Of course, anything for you,” he purred, his cheeks looking warm, his eyes going half-lidded with what might have been lust.
“If you start spouting out how you love me again, then I’ll make this agreement as unpleasant as possible,” I grumbled. He chuckled nervously while shooting looks at the other men.
“Did she say love?” Lorcan asked with disgust.
“Focking Christ,” Dullahan sighed again. “Why are you even asking for the building? You’re on the list too. He’s after all of us now and we should work together.”
“Fuck you,” I said, using Viktor to get back on my feet. His hand slid around my back as he held me against him. I leaned into him as he began sniffing my neck. One of the less weird things that had happened today.
“I’d be fine all on my own and you know it. Plus, you’re the reason I’m now on the Council hit list. Give me the building and you’ll be under my protection,” I said with a smirk.
“Yes, of course,” Viktor purred against me. “Let’s make a contract.” His lips were against my neck, moving across the sensitive skin as he talked. I looked at the other two men staring at us. Lorcan looked like he was watching two trains collide, a massive shocking tragedy unfolding before his eyes. Dullahan looked suspicious, staring at Viktor paw at me in concern. Then he stumbled a little and I realized he was still drunk. I sighed.
