  39. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My Greed was quiet—satisfied with what Lorcan offered. It was pacified into delight as I pushed the kiss deeper, opening his mouth with mine and tentatively brushing my tongue with his. He shuddered against me.

“I can do things to you no one else can,” he rumbled in my ear.

He was a demon—the revelation kept repeating in my head. Demons were called the cursed ones. They were dangerous. It was certainly not recommended to fuck them. I turned away, looking at the city to try and clear my head for a moment.

Could his powers of seduction overpower my lucky instincts? Was this situation genuinely dangerous for me?

I wanted to know. I wanted to test my luck. Also, I wanted to prove I could win after the blow I took from Dullahan last night. It infuriated me every time I remembered. If I knew where that man was I’d…I’d run. I hated that. Hated there was no winning with Dullahan.

The sun was dying outside, casting the room in orange, yellow, and red. I felt like the world might be burning to the ground around us. I looked back at the first demon I’d ever seen and tried to think of anything other than desire.

“You want me to feed you?” I asked, wondering if he was asking to fuck me to death or just take a little sip. He hummed, sweeping my hair to the side and leaning into my neck. I was weak to such things and it was like he knew that. His soft lips touched my skin, making my brain scramble.

I shook my head, trying to get the thoughts to fall into place while he continued to press kisses to my neck, his body inching closer to mine until we were flush. He was doing this on purpose, avoiding answering questions by batting his eyelashes, smirking, and confounding me with demonically sensual kisses.

He was hiding something. I liked that aspect—enjoyed that he was hiding something potentially dangerous.

“Is feeding you safe?” I finally managed to get out. He chuckled and pulled back, his thumb swiping over my lips as he looked at me in amusement. He leaned his face into mine, running his tongue over my bottom lip and a stumbling breath fell from my mouth.

“Not at all,” Lorcan purred before he bit down on my lip, making me give a little moan. His tongue dove into my mouth and we fell into the couch, his body settling on top of mine. His groan of approval rumbled through my entire body and I was forced to grab onto his arms to keep the room from spinning.

This felt familiar and yet entirely new. My body burned with energy and my fingers slid through his hair as if searching for something that wasn’t there. Something I could grab on to and tease. Didn’t demons have horns?

Open-mouthed and wide-eyed I looked up at a demon who smiled in satisfaction above me. He pinched my well-kissed bottom lip with his fingers and chuckled as I felt the burn. I felt docile and warm...needy. I wasn’t used to that. Greed was more my style and that was a vicious, dominating thing. Need like this was a blubbering mess but I was okay with that. A woman needed to let go ever so often and if that came in the arms of one enormously suspicious incubus who may want to kill me, then so be it. Bring it on.
