My tongue darted over my lips. My fingertips gently glided over the veins and knuckles on the back of his hands. I feathered my touch over the inside of his wrist, making him shudder, and lean in closer, teasing a kiss.
This was a man to be careful of, but I couldn’t stop myself.
“Special event…go on,” I prompted again. Was he going to make me ask for every new bite of information—feed me small pieces to drag out the meal?
“A rare treasure gambling event. No money, just a few priceless objects that have been accepted as meeting the minimum value of a king's ransom." That sent my Greed spinning. My tongue darted over my lips and I pressed my body harder against his. He was dangerous, but so was I.
I was a leprechaun who wanted what he had—his wealth, his building, his business. I’d wanted the Tower of Sin since the first time I saw it. It was golden, spinning up towards the sky like Babel trying to reach God, lights flashing in all the colors of the rainbow as people poured in to lose everything they had.
“Your eyes,” he whispered, fingers reaching towards my face. I slammed them shut and got a hold of myself. Fuck, if they were glowing green then my Greed was progressing again. I took a deep breath and re-opened my eyes. Viktor hummed and dropped his hand.
“I haven't forgotten you had your men shoot at me last night,” I said even though my Greed was chomping its teeth for this special party he was throwing. I was even willing to ignore his proclamation of love a few moments ago—chalk it up to the heat of the moment or harmless eccentricity.
“A misunderstanding. It won’t happen again,” he promised as his finger slowly trailed up under the edge of my cropped shirt. He backed me up against the wall and dug his fingers into my skin, feeling the bumps of my ribs. The man looked starving.
I didn’t know how to feel about these intent touches but my baser self enjoyed it. This was the type of man that would take all night to explore my body. He leaned in and pressed his mouth to my neck, making me hum. I could still feel the after-effects of him grinding between my legs.
“The bird?” I asked. “That was you, right?” He pulled back and smiled in delight.
“It was one of my forms,” he said.
“One?” I asked. It didn’t make sense. Shifters didn’t have multiple forms.
“You’ll see,” he said cryptically. “You’ll come tomorrow?”
“Maybe,” I responded, knowing full well it would take an army to prevent me from going. I pushed gently on his chest, trying to keep him from kissing my neck again. I was weak to it.
“You could come tonight. Get there early,” he said in a taunting voice, leaning in closer, eyeing my mouth. I grinned and raised an eyebrow. Viktor had a very nice mouth—plump lips that I could imagine doing more nefarious things.
