  39. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

“I think I’ll need to recover from Lorcan nonstop fucking me for…I have no idea how long. Plus the giant sidhe splitting me apart,” I told him.

“Shame,” Puca sighed.

“Did you tuck him in?” Dullahan asked Puca again. Puca frowned.

“Would you rather I leave him on the floor? He’s passed out. I think he’ll be sleeping for a while.”

“You left him a water by the bed,” Dullahan said. Puca shrugged. “A bowl of trail mix,” Dullahan continued. Puca sighed in annoyance. “And a note telling him we’ll be back soon xoxo.”

“Yes, well we better get going if we do hope to be back soon,” Puca said. Dullahan wasn’t letting up though. He grabbed Puca and dragged him closer.

“I’d be happy you seemed to care if your care didn’t come with sharp teeth,” Dullahan growled.

“I’m not going to eat him,” Puca hissed. “Who would ever want to be a demon?” Dullahan dropped him with a sigh, appeased for now. Puca sneered and dusted himself off before pulling up his arm to look at his wrist. A beautiful gold Cartier watch glistened with diamonds encrusted on the face.

“Oh,” I purred, petting it. Puca smiled.

“The boat is leaving in an hour on the northern docks.” He slid his arm around me and started walking us to the door.

“Let’s hurry then,” Dullahan grumbled. We’d all passed out after fucking earlier, unable to fight against the exhaustion after feeding an incubus. I still felt fairly weak having taken the brunt of Lorcan’s hunger. It felt like I was anemic, my head swimming and my sight blacking out when I stood up. My legs shook when I walked and I was clutching onto Puca so I didn’t end up falling to the ground. That wasn’t going to stop me from going after my luck and the bastard who dared to take it.

We slid into the elevator and Puca pressed a button.

“The roof?” I asked in confusion.

“There’s too many undead surrounding the building for us to hope to make it out that way. Also,” he purred, turning his head to look down at me.

“Yes?”

“How upset would you be if I ate Tu Shen?”

“Very,” I said curtly.

“Really? Are you sure you’d be very upset or maybe just vaguely upset? Or perhaps you’d only be very upset at first but learn to get over it.”

“You aren’t eating Shen,” I commanded and he grumbled, crossing his arms and practically pouting. The doors opened to a small hall. There was a solid metal door in front of us. Dullahan grabbed me, pulling me tightly against him as he twisted the knob. The door flew open and was ripped from its hinges. I watched it sail away and imagined it crashing into a building violently.

Dullahan growled and gripped me tighter, pulling me out into the wailing storm. I gasped and the breath was pulled from my mouth. It felt like we were inside a tornado. My hair thrashed around and I gripped his shirt, twisting the fabric in my fists as I felt the air push on my body. He took one slow stomp at a time towards the middle of the building while the wind screamed like a banshee.
