  90. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING

So there was no way I had any intention of attending Dan’s dinner party when Jarvis passed on the invitation. In fact, I invited Jarvis to relay my four-word answer of ‘Sod off and die’ back to Dan verbatim. Jarvis had already anticipated my answer and replied with four words of his own.

‘Incidents and accidents, Sephy.’

So I turned up on the date, on the dot, to be met by a barrage of Dan’s bullshit. And, even though he was dead, he was still proving to be a ginormous pain in my backside.

Yet here I sit in his chair, wondering what I’m doing.

Honestly, Callum! I’m looking around this study like I think the walls are going to start talking to me, telling me who did it. I check out the ornament holding the camera on top of the half-bookcase. Even close up, it’s impossible to see that it’s a camera. State-of-the-art spyware – which, ironically, had done nothing to stop Dan’s murder.

That letter opener in Dan’s back …

Who would Dan let get close enough to stab him in the back? A lover? A mother figure? A brother? I’d had conversations with most of them at the dinner party, but was no further forward. Somehow I had to find a way to talk to all of them, plus Jarvis and Eva. With the full facts, surely I’d be able to work out who murdered Dan? That was the only way to protect myself and my children.

The question was how?

Flu vaccination take-up among WAMEs at lowest point in decades

People from the Nought community in particular are significantly less likely to take up the flu vaccine compared to Crosses. Every Albion citizen over 60 is annually offered the vaccine, but, whereas the take-up among Crosses has consistently been over 82 per cent, that among Noughts so far this year has been less than 48 per cent.

A study from the National Public Health Authority (NPHA) found that a number of Noughts distrust the vaccine and have actively decided against taking it. Mei Dupone of the NPHA warned that a concerted effort must be made to counter false rumours and targeted misinformation.

‘I’ve seen websites which claim that the vaccine contains microchips to track Noughts and their movements throughout the country, that the vaccine is a way to sterilize Noughts or render them impotent, that the vaccine is not to counter flu at all, but is a way to weaken or kill off Noughts at a designated time or place. None of these claims is true. I would encourage all Noughts to read the independent and peer-reviewed research data available on the NPHA website to get the truth about the flu vaccine.’
