Jenny: Yaaa… (angry).
John: Yaaa! Now say…
Jenny: Yaaa! Why Did you keep me on hold, firstly?
John: Are you questioning me or what?
Jenny: Okay Sorry!
John: Hehehe… Well… I was playing a game on my laptop.
Jenny: Very funny, (angry by now).
John: You sound angry…?
Jenny: Leave it.
John: What happened… anything serious?
Jenny: Naaa…
John: Now wassup?
Jenny: Yaaa… It’s serious.
John: Say… (becoming serious).
Jenny: Tell me honestly… and please don’t mind.
John: Yaar… (excited!)
Jenny: Do you have a girl friend… (feeling awkward)?
John: (Shocked by the sudden question) well, first you say…
Jenny: Well, I asked you first.
John: Ladies first! Achcha… Do you believe in relationships?
Jenny: No!
John: That means you never had a boyfriend?
Jenny: (Getting caught) Oh! Yaaa… Never honestly now!
John: See, honestly, telling you… I had one!
Jenny: Really…
John: Yes, and we were committed to each other and to such extent that we would even marry… But due to certain family problems it was not possible! She was a Muslim and I am Hindu, and we were separated and now I don’t feel for Ireland it’s all over! That’s it! I felt it necessary to tell you. I think I should not lie. Okay, fine Jenny! Ha… Ha… Ha…
Jenny: Yaaa… Fine.
John: So, you’ve never been in a relationship… Never had any crushes and all… Don’t tell me…?
Jenny: Naaa…
John: Don’t lie to me…
Jenny: (Thinking).
John: You can trust me…
Jenny: (She made a mistake) well, see John, let me be honest with you… There was this guy in school, well, it’s a long story…
John: Go on…
Jenny: Naaa…
John: Please…?
Jenny: We were in class seventh and I liked him, I had a big crush on HIM and he was damn good looking… And we were together till class 10th and my fault was I could never speak of my feelings to him! You know what I still feel for him! but he is smart.
At this, John felt heartbroken.
John: So, you could never say…?
Jenny: Yeah, never!
John: So, you guys are not in contact right now… and he also dosen’t utter a single word…? Simple. It’s one sided. Just don’t think of him.
Jenny: I’ve tried, but things didn’t work out. And I pray for us… God!
John: It’s of no use Jenny! He’s gone. No use to cry over the split milk. What is gone is gone forever! Live in the present baby!
Jenny: Yaaa… Crying.
John: Don’t cry…
Jenny: Okay then, chalo… Bye bye!
John: Take care… Now, don’t worry, God is great. The lord must have thought something for you.
Jenny: Yaaa… (happy).
Chapter 12
Jenny was back from school and she was having her favourite Arhar ki daal. When her bro Oliver “Kya mom! Phir se that same yellow favourite daal! What about me mum…? When will you start thinking about me, mom?” “Tomorrow I will cook rapna chawal for both of you okay…” said Mom. Bro and sis jumped, “Yeah! Mom’s the best! We love you, mom” Mom had to attend her famous Kitty Party today, so she had to leave home early. That’s why she was in a goody-goody mood today. Oliver was getting ready for his coaching class while Jenny had nothing to do. Poor Jenny! She decided to try something new today! Like, as she had no coaching, neither mom nor Oliver would be home… that kept her free for the entire three hours. Jenny, started to do something new - but continued her good old habit of reading. Therefore, she picked up her favourite - Shiv Khera’s series and jotted down three quotes from that particular book into her journal which she loved! That’s how the time flew off! When mom returned, she had read the book and had also ironed her clothes which… made her an ideal daughter!
