Addison wasted no time in pulling Joanna into her arms, but before she could pucker her lips, Joanna escaped her grasp.
“Not yet,” Joanna said, waggling a finger.
“What? Why?”
“Because if you start kissing me, we both know where we’re going to end up.”
“Yes, I do,” Addison said, pointing across the way. “On that incredibly high bed. New mattress?”
“Absolutely.”
“Good idea,” Addison said, reaching out to Joanna. “Now, come here.”
“Not until you see the rest.”
“The rest?”
Joanna playfully rolled her eyes. “Well, I couldn’t very well do all of this and leave the bathroom and wardrobe looking the way they did. Now could I?”
“Oh, I see,” Addison said with a laugh.
“Not yet,” Joanna chirped, pointing toward the en suite.
With a playful squint, Addison went over and pulled open the doors leading into the bath. After seeing the bedroom, she expected to see another blending of old and new, but Addison had a lot to learn about Joanna.
There was something to be said for furnishings steeped in history, and with Lucinda’s expert eye, centuries had been blended together seamlessly in the bedroom. Antique furniture accented by new, an old-fashioned iron firebox now surrounded by pristine marble, and current, less weighty fabrics with muted colors had turned the bedroom into a showplace. However, when it came to the bathroom, Joanna found herself at a loss, especially after traveling across London with Lucinda to view the latest and greatest in plumbing accouterments. The fixtures were sleek, the tubs trendy, and the showers were as smart as they were functional, and before they left the last showroom, Joanna’s mind was made up. While the bedroom would show touches from at least two centuries, the adjoining rooms would not.
Not knowing where to look first, Addison remained in the doorway with her eyebrows raised and her eyes wide. Where once stood two pedestal sinks with boxy mirrors inset into the wall, was now a unit at least ten feet long and made entirely of marble. Two granite bowls acted as the sinks and the color of the stone repeated in the squares of granite covering the walls of the shower located directly opposite the sinks. Encased in clear glass that ran from ceiling to floor, the space could easily hold four if not five adults, and while Addison inwardly smiled at the six shower heads jutting out from the walls and ceiling, it was the four steam vents and long granite bench that made her appreciation show itself.
Taking a few steps into the room, Addison’s smile grew even larger as she approached the bright white rectangular drop-in whirlpool located just past the shower. Contrasting beautifully against the granite covered deck, it was shiny and sleek, and with opposing headrests and jets throughout, it was made for comfort, and for company.
